Where else to look for dresses

I have tried Modcloth, H&M, Tulle, Target, Urban Outfitters, Free People, Anthropologie (sale rack only), and Macy's. I'm not having much luck. Is there anywhere else that I'm missing? Also, am I resigned to wearing 100% polyester in the summer just because of my price point?

Honestly , try ATLOFT, they are having 40% off on line and in store.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there *are* dresses you love that fit - it's a price point thing at the moment, right?

Oh, of course there are. But they are WAY outside my price point...like even if they went on sale I probably couldn't afford them!

Have you tried Kohl's or JCPenney? There is a lot of polyester, but some cotton, too.

I'm going to Beacon's on Monday. I'll probably try TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, and Daffy's but they require a lot more time than I have at the moment. I'm definitely picky and don't like a LOT of the dresses out there.

Maya- if I can find cotton dress in my price point, then so can you. Try Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic (outlets if you have them), Kohl's and of course- Ross.

Hi Maya,
My Max Studio dress from Nordstrom Rack was only $40 and is 100 percent cotton.
My sheath was also $40 from Jcpenneys, although it is polyester it is fully lined and not that clingy stretchy material. They actually had a few other cotton sheath's at JCP that I liked that were $40 or less, they just were not the color I was looking for.

I was going to suggest TJmaxx, Marshalls or the Rack but do not know if you are near any of those stores. Love the first blue dress from the Loft that Angie posted.

Do you have a Dillard's. They had a rack of clearance dresses. You might try it.

I saw that first dress Angie posted the other day in person and it is SUPER CUTE!!! Unfortunately, I don't think it qualifies for the 40% off because it is still at full price. (isnt' the 40% off only on already discounted stuff?)

I don't have Dillards, Ross, or the Rack near me. But, supposedly the Rack will be opening on May 11. Let's hope they don't postpone the date yet again...

The ATL dresses are all nice dresses, but they are just not my style at all. I can't accessorize these dresses the way I would in winter with hose and belts and cardigans, etc. They have to have all the details built-in.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but most of the dresses at Shabby Apple are under $100. There are a few (sale) dresses at Trashy Diva for under $100, and they use silk, cotton, and rayon only. I found an inexpensive dress at Nordstrom Rack recently. It was marked down to about $38 from a high of $120. You can also check Eshakti. They have tons of dresses in about the $50-60 range and they are almost all cotton. They will custom-size for $15 and frequently offer discounts and coupons.

But Maya, I thought you were after breezy Summer dresses for 90 degrees plus - hense the ATL selection. Also, some of the mod cloth dresses you linked to wouldn't layer well under cardigans either. So I guess I don't know what you're after.

I don't want to layer them at all. It's too hot in summer for layering. That's what I was saying. I can't layer so I want the dress to have enough interest on its own.

I just want to wear dresses all summer, regardless of temperature. Temps have nothing to do with it. I just want dresses because I don't like summer fashions and I'd rather just make it easier by getting one piece per outfit than dealing with separates.

For 90 degree days, I want one or two silky sack dresses. I'd also like a polkadot dress, white cotton casual dress like this one: http://www.kaboodle.com/review.....sant-dress, and unlined LBD. I'd prefer them to be more fitted. I like sack dresses but I don't want too many of them.

I just want dresses that have unique silhouettes and fun details: zippers, studs, kimono sleeves, ruching, colorblocking, ruffled skirts, etc. I also need all my dresses to be unlined because linings get sticky and sweaty in the heat.

Esprit's dress selection this season is depressing. Lots of tshirty knits, way overpriced. I was disappointed.

Debora, that dress is cute but the neckline is too high for me and the knit top would just make my chest look huge! I bet DD looks great in it though.

Can anyone tell me how FC runs? I haven't worn anything by them in ages but I recall them running a bit small. Should I get a 4 or a 6?

Maya, how about Filene's Basement?

I'm sort of a bad bargain shopper in the sense that places like Filene's Basement, TJ Maxx, Marhsalls, etc. totally overwhelm me to the point where I actually feel sick. I can't stay for long before I have to run out the door and get some fresh air. It might just be that these stores are much more crowded and disorganized in NYC than they are elsewhere and I don't do well in crowds (which makes one wonder how I survive in this city).

I'll definitely be going but I don't know how successful I will be. My size tends to be one of the first to go, if it was available at all in the first place.

I will start with Beacon's Closet on Monday. It's much smaller than any of the other stores and I always find something when I go.

I see that you already know this, Maya, but I was going to suggest 6pm.com. I went there and put in size 2 and "under $50" (love that feature!) and there were over 200 items, so I hope you can find something to your liking.

I would also suggest the sale section of Athleta.com. Be aware, though, that they seem to run on the snug side in the bust. I bought their smallest size per my usual practice when I'm unfamiliar with a brand, and I could barely breathe.
