where are all the v-necks?

I'm looking for a simple merino wool v-neck sweater in a darkish color of red. Even a regular red would be fine as long as it doesn't lean towards orange. This sweater is proving hard to find.

Any suggestions?

Unique has a lot of red v necks - merino, cashmere. Etc. I got a purple one for $20 recently but they have red.

I know! It's my favorite neckline and it seems to have been upstaged by crewnecks and cowlnecks this season... Angie even mentioned this as one of the undersupplied items this year in her roundup of 2014 trends.

I thought I saw a red merino v-neck sweater at the BR website.

I think all the v-necks are in the same place the non-pencil skirts are. They are not in the stores, as Angie pointed out.

BR had a whole slew of excellent V-neck knitwear in OCT and NOV, which made my top picks lists a few times. I'm afraid they are all sold out now.

Your best bet is to wait for new Spring collections to emerge in the next month. I have a hunch that V-necks will make a debut in Spring. Or try Uniqlo and H&M right now.

Lands End is usually good for all the colors under the sun but I don't see any reds in their v neck sweaters right now; looks like a lot of colors and sizes have sold out, but they're usually good about restocking. I did find a ballet neck cashmere in a dark red:

I have an Everlane cashmere "modified v neck" that i love. I say modified because it's not quite as sharp as a regular v neck but definitely not rounded like a crew. It's called rose - and is not red, but more of a merlot colour. Actually, it's the Marsala "new Pantone colour for 2015" - which turned out surprisingly more flattering and wearable that I would have thought.

The Woolover sweaters ended up being sized too big so I didn't bother ordering. I'm trying a couple of sweaters on deep discount from Eddie Bauer and Talbots. The Talbots one isn't a v-neck but has nice zippers at the hem that make it interesting. We'll see.

I'll be watching the spring collections for v-necks.

I hear you! I'm a v-neck devotee and have been finding this hard to find as well. I have recently discovered Theory v-necks and love the quality of their merino wool. I just picked up one in Ruby (though it is more an oxblood colour.) it is a bit slouchy and has a nice drape. I would recommend tracking it down as they seem to be on sale now! (I bought mine in store in Canada - Winners and The Bay.)

Brenda: I love a good v-neck! It's definitely one of my best neckline options! Living in Chicago, however, I often find they're a little thin and cold worn on their own. Sometimes I can layer a thermal cami underneath, or a scarf on top, but mostly I choose to wear them from 45-65, which is Spring/Fall in m neck of the woods.

I'm thinking temperatures in France must be a bit more temperate than I thought if they rely on ballet flats and silk shirts, too!

Interesting rules for the French. A friend of my husband's has a French wife, and I hardly ever see here wearing ballet flats. On the contrary, she loves high spike heels. She's been here in the States for only 3 years, and shops like an American. I think it's one of those "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" things.
