Star you make a good point - discounts are available now (with the size limitations and final sale restrictions I mentioned), but style preferences might change by next fall. The retail offerings will change too.
Thanks karen23 I'll check out put Maryland Square.
Sal, right, exhausting! Not particularly expensive though
LJP interesting point that "nothing good comes of determining hunting"....but with my fussy feet I find that's the only thing that gets me footwear that works.
Jaime - since Nordstrom fired me I can't shop at NAS although I do look online at Nord for ideas. I wish the second hand market was more viable for me but there are very few stores and they mostly have pretty beat up stuff that was pretty low-end to begin with.
Jaileen I always do the whole insole/insert dance. .... but right now it's not the answer to finding what I want.
Good advice Angie, and I do often buy end of season items that I know I'll wear a little and then bring out next season.
Jenni Z yeah, I think I can do ok for the rest of the winter without the black boots I seek.
Firecracker I already DID duplicate the ecco so I'll have a backup pair when these wear out. They are truly awesome! But that style is too chunky for me for spring.
Bijou - interesting idea to shop at places that are opposite seasons from mine.
Sisi - I don't think a cobbler could add additional sole cushioning without making the boot too snug. And I've already tried the general idea by adding insoles - same problem.
