When is appropriate to start wearing boots?

So I want to start wearing my boots and happened to do a search about when is appropriate and found this forum.

I'm thinking that person lives in a different climate than I do. The last week or two has been great for boots in the PNW. Maybe not today since it's supposed to get to 77F [shocker].

It's ALWAYS boot time (unless you're in the tropics, in which case, why even own them?).

It's not about the boots. It's what you wear with them. DC Urban Mom forum poster needs to go get a latte and relax.

I'm with ironkurtin. I wear boots year round!

But definitely, wear them in a climate-appropriate kind of way. For example, for summer, I wear light-color perforated boots. But I won't wear them when it is super hot outside (that's what sandals are for!).

DC in general is known to be more conservative fashion wise.

Ugh, remind me not to travel to DC! I understand not looking seasonally confused (enter lighter or shorter boots, as already mentioned), but that thread just reads like an excuse for people to be mean and catty. It's nobody's business but mine if I want to wear boots or if my legs are roasting - maybe my legs run colder than yours!

Oh heavens:

"First of, there is nothing uglier and less professional looking than skirts with boots. I cant stand that look."

Second the "never moving to DC" comment... but if I do, I'm wearing my "unprofessional" look every single day just in hopes of running into *this* sourpuss.

Uh oh...that means I've been comitting a fashion faux pas all day - I'm wearing a dress AND tights AND boots (booties to be exact)!!! I probably wouldn't get past security at the DC airport with all that going on!

There's always a handful of such folks in any situation. I lived and worked in DC for years and nobody ever told me off for how I dressed or didn't dress.
