When do you stop buying for summer?

For those of you currently enjoying the start of summer, I wonder when you stop buying for it?

Aside from some year-round work wear, lately I've picked up some very specific summer items, mostly motivated by our upcoming vacation: a couple of swimsuits, a couple of pairs of shorts, a pair of sandals, a beachy dress. But summer is brief in my neck of the woods, and I think -- I hope -- I am done buying for summer. It's a strange thought because the New England summer tourist season doesn't even officially start until July 4, but I am already planning for new fall booties. What about you? Still summer shopping?

Apparently never? :p I still have my eye on dressy metallic shorts (which I started hunting around for, oh, late fall last year). Hoping to pull the trigger right as Just say no June ends.
I don't mind buying out of season if it's just the right item. I should add that regularly moving between two opposing climates has me always keeping the other in the back of my mind. For instance, I bought suede booties yesterday, living in FL, but know I'll really get the wear out of them in Tahoe.

I am absolutely not going to get any more sandals--so hard with the summer sales just starting. But I keep telling myself to hang on to the thought of two really great pairs of booties I will want/need in the fall. Our hottest months here are September and part of October, so will only look for summer t's and maybe a pair of knee length pants at the summer sales.

Ha. Definitely still summer shopping. But almost done. I have ordered a few tops and I still need a casual low heel sandal (I think) but otherwise, it's over. I don't really need a lot for summer this year due to the length of season, the level of casualness (not many opportunities to dress up this year) and the fact that I bought quite a bit last year.

Time to start thinking about fall, though. Just in time for NAS.

I am finishing now. Still buying things work appropriate because I just went back to work but that's it.(also I did a lot of shopping for work in the past weeks ;o) )

I have a hard time shopping for summer until it actually arrives. But I try not to get too much, because summer can be short and fickle here in Seattle. I actually do a lot of in-season shopping, because I usually get to a point in the season where I'm tired of what I have or find a hole I didn't anticipate. Like white jeans in a looser fit, which I discovered yesterday--LOL!

Our summer is very very hot and so I get a lot of use out of summer clothes. I'll stop shopping when I find what I need! For my extremely casual life, tees and shorts suffice most of the time. But I do need to dress nice sometimes. I still need nice tops. I bought a couple EF tops but could use a couple more tops. I've bought several pairs of sandals (ok, five pairs) and I think that's more than enough. I would also like a nice pair of linen pants. I ordered some from Lands End but I'm not sure they're going to work.

I am done with summer. Just say no June has helped with that decision this year. I do have some long sleeve linen tees waiting for me to pull the trigger, though.

I am basically finished now...but I started buying for spring/summer back in February. We are hitting 90 this week and our hot weather will last through September and it will likely still be warm into October.

Funnily my goal for this summer is to wear a bunch of casual maxi and hi-low dresses I bought for a trip to Hawaii two years ago and haven't worn much outside that trip although I like them a lot. I have summer footwear covered, I bought a few floral/light patterned tops, cut off a pair of shorts, and I'm basically done, spring/all weather clothing covers the other holes. I bought a lot in the winter and spring so on cold and rainy days I'm wearing those clothes.

My tracking tells me I have plenty of warm weather clothing still to wear before adding any more--although I still am looking for the perfect $10 sunglasses.

I save a little of my budget and I stock up on cute things at the end of the season in August (for me) when they bring out the back-to-school early fall items. As a result I may continue to collect sandals and other summer items into early September.

I have so little time for shopping I've got to get all I need when I get a chance. I went exactly twice this spring-summer, and I got three tops, three swimsuits, a dress, a ton of running gear - and of course, makeup! This were my immediate needs, I normally manage to squeeze in one more shopping session at the beginning of July, when they have sales in Italy. I have to be organized, take time off, look at catalogues, get sitters... it's hard and I learnt to be a surgically efficient shopper, but if I stumble in yet another perfect, breezy sumemr dress, that I must have

i'd say i'm done with summer, but i'm still looking for transitional items, its taken me a long time to realize that transitional is actaul the predominate season were i live.

My intention was to build a full summer wardrobe, because I purged most of it at the end of last summer. I'm having trouble finding things though, so nowhere near finished and starting to feel like I won't be! It will be September and I will still be wishing for a few more summer tops. We aren't consistently cool until November but of course the stores don't recognize that.

So, I'm going to have to say...never.

There is so much hot, sticky, weather to come that I feel I've barely begun to find enough pieces to get through it all. I will probably buy my last summer piece (in desperation) in August.

June ended mine. I do buy some out of season but I'm trying to have most of the season in place at the start of the season.

Living in a climate that is pleasant in summer...a few hot days but mostly comfortable, I don't actually buy a lot of summer clothes...I use my spring wardrobe and add some cooler pieces...I guess I am about finished with adding cooler clothes and am looking at the fall type plus (Ta Da) NAS...

Short New England season here. But I am with others who say that this season is really offering options that resonate, so I will buy as the exciting choice comes along to enjoy going forward. Some seasons, I am indifferent by now. We also had a late start to the warmer weather and I am loving the chance to dress for summer.

We have 2 hot days in a row here now. I bought the most summer stuff last Saturday. I've tried to rearrange my closet and put away the cold weather stuff 4 times already. Wore a coat just about a week ago. I prefer thrifting when possible and I don't like shopping so I only frequent a few stores. They tend to close for weeks or months during the summer. I no longer buy for the next summer at season's closeout sales that stores have in late summer. I have no idea what I'll want next summer and I don't assume I'll get plenty of wear out of it before fall. So I stop in late August. Even if September is hot, I start to switch out colors to get a fall feel.

Summer is just beginning but I think I'm set for now. I usually pick up a few refreshers in August to replace things that have worn out or to have something new when I'm really sick of what I have been wearing.

Shopping for summer still, yes. But summer has only been here for 2 weeks or so! It sometimes takes me a bit to see what I can still wear, what I want to wear, and come to terms with letting go of things I already know I won't reach for.
