When did I get such expensive taste? (Handbag and skirt)

My handbag search continues: at the moment I'm strongly drawn to this bag from Mimco.

It comes in a larger size as well, with a matching larger price tag. But nothing else I've seen comes close to being what I want in terms of size or style. They did have a sale on the mini version, but not in black - only in khaki and tumeric (sort of a yellow/brown that's not me at all). Should I just march into the store and slap down my credit card? Or should I keep looking?

I've already ordered this one, so I hope it meets with YLF approval! I'll post photos when it arrives. I've only seen a dress from the same line, and it was well made and in a fabric that will suit my hot weather. I think I can pair it with tees and blouses and heels and flats and it will be versatile - what do you think?

I honestly have never spent this much on clothes or an accessory before, apart from my wedding dress. It's weird for me, but I'm just so tired of buying things I love only to have them fall apart. Are more expensive items really better quality?

Both are very nice items, well chosen. I have no experience with these brands but if you really love the items, have considered them for a while, then get them. Sometimes if I sleep on something for a night or two, and I still am thinking about that item, then it's meant to be.

Love both of your choices. I recognize the same wonder on what I seem willing to pay for clothes... I once read an article, many years ago, about the different regions in Usa and how each had different styles and spending habits. Nyc and la stuck out then as the two places where DESIGNER was important and thus people spent the money. Ohio and most other regions (In am from Ohio) had a 'practical' view to clothes and price. I really recognized myself in that article. And I feel I am fighting that 'culture ' to have clothes that are fun rather than practical, and spend more for my taste.

Hope you get at least one of these and encourage the rest of us with a story about how successful that purchase is!

I have definitely been thinking about the skirt for a while. I saw it in the back of a Shop Til You Drop magazine (an Aussie-only title, I think?) and just loved it. I've been stalking it through some stores, but where I live we don't get many designer things so there weren't a lot of options. If Karen Walker didn't have a nicely explicit returns policy outlined on their site I might not have bought it, but I know YLF will give me good advice on if it suits me when it gets here.

I have trouble paying a lot for handbags, but do appreciate the well made ones for their quality and beauty. I think there are so many that I always think I'll find something almost as good as my lust item for less. Then my SIL gives me expensive bags (not my picks, but they are generally nice) so I save that budget for other things of my choosing. That said, if you find a good bag that suits your needs and you love it, then I say go for it and get your use from it (cost per wear) happily.
