Hubby and I were out running some errands this afternoon and all of a sudden he pulled into the Danier Leather parking lot. Imagine my surprise when he said we were there for me to pick out a leather jacket for my birthday present. Now my birthday isn't for a few weeks yet but hubby commented he knew we'd have to get sleeves shortened and he wanted to make sure it was back from alterations for my actual birthday. How sweet is that?

So we wandered around and I tried on several styles - in fact, I tried one on that looked exactly like Claire's beautiful taupe moto jacket. I tried on black, white, grey, taupe and then I tried on a soft wine purple that was a completely different style: it buttoned up with brushed silver metal buttons, each one different; the sleeves had button details with all different buttons for the bottom 3 inches; it comes in at the waist and then has a slight flair over the hips; the two front pockets have a ribbon detail that hangs down; the back is two inches shorter than the front and has a corset style ribbon detail on the back cinching in the waist. It's not the most versatile of all the colours and styles I tried on but I kept going back to it. My hubby asked why I was hesitating. I said that I loved the purple jacket but that really a more neutral colour and less "different" style could be worn with more things. Then he said "honey, you love this purple jacket. You should see how you smile when you put it on, how you caress the leather when you were wearing it, how you touched each button, it has a vintage flair which you're drawn to...this jacket speaks to your heart". So I thought about it - and he was right. So we bought it, had the seamstress mark the sleeves for shortening, and I'll get it in 2-3 weeks. It's not the most practical. But it will be the most loved.

So...have you bought something that spoke to YOUR heart? What was it and what was it that called your name?
