So, I'm going to a house party at a friend's house, and I THINK I know what I will wear, but I am missing an item to really pull it off. Want to wear leather treggings with a drapey charcoal grey top that is sleeveless, and these boots which I love... But I will be cold, and I really need a black blazer to make it work... Maybe I will just go without!

We are attending a wedding reception on NYE. I am wearing a black sheath sleeveless dress (Ann Taylor) flounced at the bottom. The icing is a silver "crystal" bib necklace. The supporting cast: pin dot black nylons, Kate Spade flats, silver clutch. I couldn't find a shrug that looked right so while seated I will use a merino wool shawl........Underneath, a camisole, full-length silk slip (I sewed this) and pantaloons for warmth. Topper.....a sweeping maxi coat!

We're hosting a couple of friends at home and will include our 5 year old daughter - dinner and board games (and some bubbly!). I'm not sure yet what I'll wear - I've been thinking more about the meal! I could drag out my BR tuxedo drapey track pants again with J Crew sparkly sweatshirt but everyone has already seen me in this multiple times this season! Jjsloane - love your sparkly sweats! It looks like we are going to a cocktail-attire party that has a costume theme. I'm going with a fetish-inspired Catwoman theme. I have a ruched, sleeveless black Nicole Miller dress I bought a couple of years ago. It is sleeveless with a mock turtleneck, and cutouts around the neckline, and has leather trim.

I couldn't find photos of the actual dress online anymore. The first photo is the general idea I have, except I plan to have my hair down and ironed straight. And a brighter red lip. The second photo is a different dress that shows the general silhouette. I am planning to wear it with my Schutz Gilberta pumps, Wolford tights (Hero or an older pair of lace tights with a backseam), black suede opera gloves, and a black leather half-mask I found at the Italy pavillion at EPCOT this fall. And a discreet, sparkly or black velvet clutch.

ETA: Ohhhhhh I want those Gap sparkle sweats!

Black, warm, and a little bit sparkly. Going to dinner with friends and staying in a hotel near the restaurant. Even though the walk will be short, it will be *cold*. Thinking black sparkly sweater, pencil skirt, tights, booties, faux fur scarf, sparkly clutch. Wish I could wear my raspberry wool pea coat for some color, but the black long puffer is what's called for!

sometime around 9:00 i'll put on my sweats, and i'll try to stay up, but sometime around 10:00 i'll fall asleep. and at 12;00 the cheers from the neighbors will wake me, and i'll move from the couch to the bed!

No NYE plans here-- for the first time since age 7 or 8 I might be in bed when midnight comes! We have mandatory (unpaid) days off for half of NYE and NYD, but the SO works @ 4:30 a.m. on NYD. Usually I stay home and do some planning and goal setting, we have shrimp and cheese, and I kiss the dog! Plus, we usually have winter storms around this time, which makes going out on the roads dangerous (plus more drunk drivers).

Sending healing wishes to those who are ill. Stay warm!

I'm going to be changing three times through the evening.

First part of the evening, I'll wear the outfit below in #1. That's for an at-home supper with husband and daughter. If I can't go out to a party, I'll bring the party to me! (There's champagne in the fridge!)

Then I will change into something super warm. And grab my skates. DD and I will go skating at Market Square and watch fireworks.

After that, we will come home, change into cozy sweats, make some hot chocolate, and watch the festivities in Times Square.

That sounds amazing, Suz. It is so funny seeing all the snow and warm clothes for the majority of YLF participants. Maybe I will make an effort and change into my swimsuit and sit in the pool with a glass of something bubbly(35 degrees here!) just as a token Southern Hemisphere NYE gesture!

New Years Eve is going to be casual and cold. I plan to wear my gold metallic jeans with black cashmere sweater and black ankle boots (or brown boots and belt to copy Angie's outfit, my inspiration.)

ATLynn, I'm tickled pink that my Inge-inspired outfit inspired you! I can't tell you how much I love that oversized tuxedo shirt. It feels amazing on and you will be so comfortable in it all evening long. We are celebrating at home and I am planning on wearing it dressed down with skinny jeans and sparkly ballet flats. I am going to top it off with a pearl and mixed metal necklace that my daughter gave me for Christmas. As comfortable as it is, I'm sure I'll most likely be in my jammies by the time the clock strikes midnight.

By Los Angeles standards it will be freezing here plus we are walking because no one wants to drive on NYE. I'm in burgundy waxed skinnies and a moto jacket with a black top and combat boots with my Mcqueen knock-off skull scarf to stay warm. The choices are either a divey gay bar, a rock n roll go-go bar or a chill vaguely Morrocan themed lounge.

I bought the jacket and jeans at least six months apart and I never realized I basically bought the outfit until I was searching for images for pintrest!

We usually celebrate New Year with friends in somebody's house but this year we are going to a New Year Eve in the musical hall - just the two of us - for live music and dance. I am going to glam it out again (kind of) with my outfit I wore to the Christmas Gala - why not?
...and I am going to be in bed by 1AM...

Such beautiful NYE outfits here! We used to go out when the kids were younger and didn't know it was NYE. Nana would come to stay with them and we would go out to a big gala at a hotel.

But the kids are older now and know what NYE is. They want to celebrate. So we will have a dinner made entirely of appetizers and play silly board games. Then when it gets late we will find Cirque du Soleil on the telly and watch until midnight. Then we will all hug and kiss and say goodnight - "See you next year!" (despite it being midnight and already being 2015). Though I long to go out and dress up, there is such a short window in which the kids will think it is cool to hang out with us for NYE, so we'll take it. I don't want to miss these years and wish we had spent it with them instead of going out, so we will stay home and enjoy the time while we have it.
