What's your opinion of... tie front tops?

I was browsing Top Shop and New Look online and spotted a few tops that were tied in front... I find them quite cute, but, what's the fashion verdict? Are they just too... I don't know, 90's, Western?

I don't think those styles are too 90's or Western at all! I tend to think of tie-front tops as charming in a 50's way, actually.

I think it depends on how you'd wear them. They're all quite cropped, and anything that shows tummy is a big NO to me. But over a longer cami I can see these working. I really like the first one, and would wear it with a black or white high-waisted pencil skirt, wedges, a floppy sun hat some some big shades. Not that I own all those things, but you get the idea- it's so "retro riviera"

Cuuuu-ute! Love them, love the kitsch 50s vibe, I can see them with white clams or jeans, and bold accessories, and red lips and curly hair Or just with a simple pair of denim shorts.

Super duper duper cute! But I just bought one myself. I plan to wear it with relatively high-waist jeans (which is to say not low rise) + belt and sandals or ballet flats. Either that or a mini denim skirt.

Thanks for all the sweet comments! I was also thinking that they could be matched with a longer cami, denim shorts, or skinny jeans, cute ballet flats, and big sunglasses. I will see if I can try on a few today, and might end up bringing one home as well...

I wear my buttondown shirts this way. I never thought of it as 80's. To me it is very 50's with a full skirt and heels or flats. Espadrilles would be nice too.

I also really like the look with short shorts. I guess bermudas are fine too but they are not my personal preference.

These are all very cute! They seem like "skirt tops" to me--to be worn with a skirt. Add a longer cami underneath, and they'd all look cute with shorts, jeans, clams--love this look!
