What's your favorite way to cover up a swimsuit?

So I bought this super cute red with white polka dots pinup style swimsuit,
but i'm having a hard thinking about what kind of coverup to pair with it, I feel like another color or print would look weird :/ I'm going to go on vacation soon, and I have no idea what to wear to cover it up without looking weird or tacky, I was just curious about other's opinion, what is your favorite way to cover a swimsuit?

What a fab swimsuit !

I love a long, tunic style button down shirt in a very lightweight cotton or a pareo that can be worn as a skirt or dress. Though if I am being "active", I like a pair of board shorts. I think that swimsuits give us a chance to be a little bolder. So be brave !!! I tend to mix prints and colors, something I just don't do with my clothes.

I keep my swimsuits covered up in a drawer in my closet;-) They don't get out much.

Love the swimsuit! Very 1940's bombshell/pinup cute. Actually when I cover up a suit I usually pull shorts on - denim cutoffs, and/or a very light/airy white cotton button up shirt with rolled sleeves and long tails.

I think this suit would look great with dark denim shorts or rolled up skinny clam diggers. You could try white or black or navy for example, or alternately a flippy or pencil skirt in a neutral color or dark denim. If you are going for the 1940's look slightly high-waisted bottoms will match that.

I would think about using a cropped denim jacket or very light open short cardigan as a coverup, or just a very lightweight cotton white or chambray shirt if you are still in the sun but want your arms covered.

Cute suit! I own a white tunic style coverup that I really like. Something like that would be a good match as it would not take attention away from the suit.

That is a super cute suit. So retro and glam! My snarky answer to your question would be "a burqa." I've not worn a swimsuit since 1986. Love them on others but not for me. I avoid all occasions in which a swimsuit would be required.

There's a retro swimsuit company called Esther Williams; how great is that! It's a very cute suit. I just bought a swimsuit for the first time in years and I'm struggling with this too.

My question would be, what purpose is the coverup serving? Are you swimming and then need to dry off? Are you just lounging around the pool sunbathing? Or are you wearing your swimsuit under your clothes all day? I think depending on these answers you'll need different things.

Awesome swimsuit! I hope you get a lot of chances to wear it on vacation!

In terms of coverups, I'm always more self-conscious of my bottom half than my top, so I like sarongs. Currently I have a cotton fabric piece that can be used as a towel and then tied into a skirt/sarong or into a halter dress (so your pics 1-3) that I just wrap around myself when I need to. Mine is printed, but I don't tend to mind mixing crazy prints as much when it comes to swimwear and coverups.

I like a big button down shirt in an easy-care fabric, or a slightly sheer dolman top, and shorts. I also have a couple of UPF tops from Lululemon that I throw on at the beach for extra sun protection.

I got a coverup from Victoria's Secret last year. They have lots of different styles. The one I got was kind of a wrap, basically a long rectangular piece of fabric with armholes and a cord to tie for the waist. I didn't get a chance to wear it, though, as I bought it at the very end of summer and the weather turned too cold for swimming shortly after.

I'm not sure if you are worried about sun protection but I don't feel it is a cover up unless it protects me from the sun. I like the the tunic with a fold over yoga skirt for sun protection. You can wear just the tunic or just the skirt or both as needed.

That is a very cute suit!

I just bought a sleeveless dress at Old Navy and hemmed it to above knee length to wear as a cover up.

I like the idea of a loose white big shirt with that suit.

I remembered seeing Taylor Swift in similar suits, and I Googled and found images of some of her coverups. Hope that helps!
