Angie, does that mean there is no one most important rule and you just wanted us to start brainstorming for the manifesto?

Not quite, Kate. There is *absolutely* one most important YLF rule that hopefully Maya won't even want to break.

Violating PPL was my first misdemeanor (or is it a felony?) here. I have been a law abiding member since then. : )

rt,

i think vpl is visible panty line...a ylf don't.

I think PPL violations are Angie-felonies. Something like top length with skirts, or two voluminous items in the same outfit, would be a misdemeanor

I think YLF top rule would be supportive so I'm going with 'dress the body and for the lifestyle you have now because you are FABULOUS'

VPL I know! It's one of my pet peeves!

I'm with RoseandJoan - YLFs top rule would be something broadly supportive, backed up by specific details like PPL and top length and polish and so on.

So something along the lines of dressing for your current figure and lifestyle, in order to look fabulous as you live your life...

Be kind to others, through style.

(Everyone else already said "Have fun" or "PPL," so I had to make up a slogan..)

Angie how long do we have to wait to find out if anyone has mentioned it? I'm not good with this patiently waiting thing and you have me really curious!

My first instinct was PPL, but then I thought more along the lines of Julie & Stringy - the whole "look fab feel fabulous" motto - not turning fashion into a chore, being true to oneself but still having fun etc...

PPL is the first "rule" that I learned one I embraced YLF. Everything else seems to be "learn then adapt" and add your own style.

OOoh, ppl is tempting, but I'm sticking with "keep an open mind." Angie get positively verklempt when someone adapts a new-to-them look or admires a fashion outside their comfort zone.

So...which is it???

Hmm lots of interesting answers. My first YLF rule for clothing was learning about PPL. But I don't think this forum would function as nice as it does without the rule to be respectful and kind to others. Even when you don't favor or agree with another person's opinion, it is best to say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say.

Respect if it's the one absolute rule.

Ok, if we're talking absolute, then I'm switching to team "Support thy fellow woman/man in the quest toward trying something new, style-wise".

Hmmm. No one has mentioned anything about having an annual bra-fitting and a perfectly fitting bra yet.

So many fabulous thoughts and I thank you for your brains. I love each and every "rule" that has been mentioned.

YLF's most important rule is to have fun with fashion. Don't ever stop having fun at any age. I obviously take fashion and style seriously, and so do most of you. But at the end of the day - it has to stay a fun and enjoyable process. THATS what keeps us going. THATS what makes it appear effortless. THATS the positive intermittent reinforcement (sorry - Psyche major here). Life is stressful enough. Keep this aspect of it fun and you'll always have a bright spot in your day. That's the main reason we created YLF. It's a place for people to learn to have fun with how they dress.

It's a given that everyone is respectful, supportive and kind. So that's not a rule because it's in your hearts anyway :0)

Well done Kim and Kate!!! You were in my head.

that's close to what I was going to say...I was going to guess "keep experimenting"

Oohhhh yay! I agree. There's so many fab textures, colors, prints, and new siilhouettes to explore, smirk at and embrace. Wear your fashion with a passion y'all!

It's going to sound pretentious now to say, that's what I was going to say but that is what I was going to say! Have fun with fashion. Also what Sihaya said "Respect" - for yourself and for one another.

Love it Angie! Those psych terms speak to me!:)

Oooo, I'm not a sore loser BUT I did put having fun with style on Scarlet's thread. I can be such a Monica at times.

Vani, I believe you!

Julie, what you wrote on Scarlet-Rosie's thread was duly noted. I saw it

You guys are silly

I like this rule.

Angie, that's an easy one. HAVE FUN WITH FASHION! That's my mantra.

Coming very late to this thread, but I would have guessed have fun and make it your own!
