What's with Modcloth

I am so mad at Modcloth right now. Why do they show stuff that is out of stock? I went to check their site for belts, and while they seem to have plenty of pretty 2" options, virtually everything is sold out. Why is it still on the page? It's so disappointing.

I hate it when stores do that. Although it is worse when you fill up your cart, check out and go happily on your way, and a few days later you get the EOD (email of doom) that your item is out of stock. Hate that.

I *hate* that Cathy. There is almost as many as items on the page that are out of stock as there are in stock though, which is kind of crazy. There is an option to notify me on restock, so maybe that's why, but I doubt most of them would come back in stock.

Maya, I know it is frustrating!
But I think they leave them there because it is stock that they plan on replenishing (as opposed to things they discontinue). If you click the "Add to Wishlist" button another bubble will pop up allowing you to enter your name and email and then you can click "notify me on restock". I guess this allows them to "sell" items they don't currently have in stock.

Maya, I'm with you on this. Target does this too. What is the point of showing something that is out of stock? Gap and Old Navy are good about taking something down that is not in stock I think. I think it is even more annoying when you think you've ordered something only to get the 'we're sorry that is out of stock' AFTER you place the order. I think that is the worst!
