What's the opposite of a poison eye?

I love the YLF term "poison eye" to refer to something that we have a predisposition (perhaps irrational) against. But I've also realized that I have the opposite of that for some things - a "delicious eye?" I realized this on some of the recent threads about haircuts - I have nothing against long hair, put will always prefer short hair on someone, given the choice. (And it's all about finding out the right "short" for you!) So I sat out those threads, realizing my bias.

I also have a delicious eye for anything with cherry blossoms, bags or shoes with straps and buckles, the color turquoise, and charm bracelets.

OK YLF - Do we have a better term for the opposite of a poison eye? What are you drawn to, no matter what?

Oh, yes. I have a HUGE sugar eye for that carelessly elegant look that Ines de la Fressange has when she tosses on a perfect trench over her striped top and impeccable jeans. I want it so badly that I keep trying on beige trench coats that make me look like a bag of potatoes with a string tied around the middle--and with a corpse-like complexion to boot. My delicious eye also includes the creamy perfection of Angie's cabled sweater and gold pants on today's post. That outfit would look awful on me, but I want it--badly!

Colors: cobalt and periwinkle
Prints: stripes, dots, reptile, leopard
Hair: me too on the short hairstyles
Outerwear: trench coats and capes
Cropped jackets and sweaters

High five to Angie, I started pinning on Pinterest just to keep track of all my sugar eye items and looks:-)

A few examples: white button-down shirts, leather jackets, the colours green, blue and purple, minimalist looks, androgynous and punk elements...

I have a love for greyed versions of blue and purple.
Brown footwear.
Floral patterns on an ink blue,white or black background.
Subtle hardware.
V necked sweaters.

Some of mine: striped tops, menswear looks, super short pixie cuts (I think because I know I can't pull one off), shades of blue and grey, tall, flat leather boots, minimal makeup with perfect skin, fitted blazers.

Ha! A sweet eye? Here are some things guaranteed to attract my eye...

- leather jackets
- moto jackets
- long sleeve shirts with fitted dramatic cuffs at the wrist -- I don't know why, maybe because it highlights a slender wrist? -- but I wish the style would have a revival
- French cuffs
- long, not cropped, pants with PPL near the ground
- vibrant blues and greens
- photographic prints
- graphic patterns
- houndstooth
- gunmetal
- cool boots
- silk, especially in shirts

If the "sugar eye" is for things we are drawn to but don't really work for our figures, lifestyle, or budget, then I would say leather jeans, oversized sweaters, high-ish heels, nerd glasses, super tailored tweedy suits, elegantly tied square silk scarves (somehow I always look like a bank teller in this look), slouchy trousers, and hats.

In general I am always attracted to black and white patterns, red, turquoise, and grey; biker style jackets and boots, big bags, tweed, and trench coats. Hmm, maybe my aspirational style should be thought of as "rocker classic"? But not "classic rocker" -- that conjures up images of tie-dye, patchwork, cargo shorts and Tevas regardless of the amount of snow on the ground.

Una, I believe that you were the creator of the YLF term "poison eye", correct? And now you've come up with "sugar eye"!

I think we should send both your entries to the the Oxford English Dictionary. They are constantly adding new words that crop up in the English language. A most recent addition in June 2012 was "supercool".

I do know what you mean, Nadya, whatever the name for it! I have a penchant for sleek shoes with heels and tall slim boots and white shirts or sweaters. Sadly my feet (and lifestyle) aren't too sweet on them

My sugar eye is anything steampunk or goth. Thank you, Pinterest, for helping me make the addiction even worse. I also love indigo and plum colored hair.
And men in oxfords with no socks. I don't know what that's about....

I vote for the term "sugar eye" as it is faster to type and easier to spell, lol! I have a sugar eye for turquoise, so much that I sometimes can't tell if it doesn't suit someone. I think it looks good on everybody because of it!

colors: turquoise, coral, navy, silvery grey
prints: stripes, black & white, oriental motifs
Hair: bobs, either smooth or curly with some geometrics

Nadya, thanks! I am thrilled to contribute anything to the YLF lexicon that you all choose to embrace. My brother has several entries in the Urban Dictionary, mostly our own family words that we've made up. It's a genetic quirk.

Sugar eye came to mind because it's like a sweet tooth, which I know some call a sugar tooth.

Mine are for anything cropped, boots, the color grey, hardware, chunky oxfords, slouchy pants, menswear styles, and leather. I'm sure there are PLENTY MORE. Whatever Allsaints is, or Rick Owens, or Helmut Lang, or any of those, but with my magpie Indian self thrown in there for color and bling now and then.

Sugar eye has that surefire cadence. Def. needs to be submitted to the urban dictionary!

I think though I might take it all the way to irrationality and must tell y'all I might have magpie eye. For puffies, patent leather shoes, tissue tees, and cap sleeves. I make a beeline straight for these things, and if I just happen to come by one of these things that I feel is particularly good, I will snatch it up to "save for later."

I'm a sucker for anything with polka dots, matchy matchy patterns, black/white/red, turquoise/yellow, animal prints with actual animals as the print (like my owl and bee blouses), orange or cherry (both colors and fruits) and burgundy.

Ah yes, the Sugar Eye! Mine is for colourblocking, piping, houndstooth, and sapphire blue.

Can we call it a Saccharine Eye when one of those factors leads you to purchasing an item that is otherwise unsuitable? Looking at you, colourblocking...
