What's the deal in reference to restocking for the regular sale?

Maybe I was confused. But I was under the impression that Nordstrom was going to add some withheld merchandise at the start of the public sale for sold out items. Examples the EF sweater coat was available all sizes presale but petites and xs (my size) sold out yesterday right before the start. I was on at the opening of sale and no new sizes were added. Same with JP fleece long jacket and Burberry (it's navy so I wasn't buying but if they were going to restock you'd think it would be that coat). So anyone know the scoop? This may drive me to go to the hassle of opening an account at Nordies. I'm on one of those identity theft watch lists so it's a pain but if they aren't going to give the public a fair chance at the start it may be worth it. Good luck all and back to stalking....

They don't restock everything.

They tend to restock Nordie's brands, like Halogen or Caslon.

Thistle - thank you. I guess it's wishful thinking that they would restock or save some stock of the biggest items, like the things that made it into the little catalog. Hope springs eternal.

I was also disappointed, Gryffin. In the past, I had noticed that -- at minimum -- Halogen items tended to be restocked for the regular sale. When it came to other brands, particularly the designer items, usually at least a few items would be held back in all sizes for the regular sale (though admittedly, you had to act fast!).

But this year, it seems I'm out of luck on two Halogen items that I had missed in my size during the pre-sale. I do have a store card and could have ordered them immediately but was dithering a bit on size and other features and wanted to see Angie's recommendations first.

I'm still hopeful I will find the Burberry coat to try in Canada but I'll know more about that today.

I hope someone returns the items you are hoping to try in your size.

I am wondering -- the past two years, many people expressed annoyance about items going on sale again at lower than NAS prices shortly after NAS -- making me think they overestimated the number of items they would need. Perhaps this year they underestimated?

I'm wondering, too! Was hoping to pick up that BP cami in a smaller size, but it seems I'm out of luck!

I just went on their Instagram account. A lot of upset comments.

They said their website reflects current inventory, but their team is still making updates. Not all items will be restocked, but please keep checking back.

Suz - I'm almost sure they restocked last year. Yes, that's a good thought about ordering short. However, if they were withholding stock we'd still have some for the start. I thought someone had posted that Nordie's was planning on doing this because of complaints. I guess not. We will all stalk together. But it was frustrating to be up at 10 min to 3am and no sweater coat to pounce on. Sigh...

Nicole - I hope they do restock for you. Keep watch and we will keep vigil with you. The stalking support group begins.

I was really surprised, too. Last year, I flew to Seattle to shop at store #1 with a friend, in the middle of the regular sale, and had no problems. My stylist seemed to think there would be a full size run, of the print catalog, in the stores this morning, so she's going to look for the sweater I'm stalking.

Fingers crossed that more items are restocked for you!

Just checked, and no more Kork Ease Mindo booties this morning than there were last night. I expect they'll be available later in the season, from other retailers, at full price.

Yes, I was surprised, too. I just checked on the Longchamp convertible bag that I ordered. It was left out of the box. When I called, the associate found one right away. I assumed she went into the saved-for-later bin. Not so, apparently.

They DO hold back for the sale to restock - and some have scored because of it. But they don't restock all items.

I checked every two hours starting at midnight--nada, not even Halogen and Caslon. You can bet that next year I won't fill my cart in the first hour of the pre-sale and then wait till the next morning to pay!

I got a Nordstrom card just for NAS. I was frustrated with items selling out. So last year I signed up on the second day of the presale. Some things I was interested in had already sold out.

Ah, so it's not just me. I hopped up early this morning, checked on a few items, made a sad face, and went about my day. And most of the items I was looking for were Nordstrom house brands. Looks like we'll all have to go into advanced stalking mode.

Beth, you mean have each item page open in a different tab and cycle through them hitting 'reload'? On it. Or maybe one of the software developers among us can write a bot to do it for us.

For some reason I was under the impression that random things got restocked at random times, and I'm not just talking about returns popping up.

Laura, that's exactly what I do. Alternatively, I just keep my YLF Finds page open and just click each picture to see if any restocking has occurred. Time for a bot!

I was up at midnight PST last night checking too, because it's not too late for me and my size had sold out early in presale (e.g. for one pair of shoes, by Day Two it was entirely gone in the company). That pair was shown in the catalog, so I had hope that it would be restocked for the public sale. I checked right after midnight and it was still sold out, but by 12:30AM it was back... in a smattering of colors and sizes, sadly not my size. Not sure if only a few pairs were restocked and they sold out by the time I noticed--it seems like the restocks were being manually loaded--or if they just didn't get returns of my size.

I got a Nordstrom card specifically for NAS several years ago, and I've never regretted it. The online user interface and the customer service are both very good. And my size, which is on one extreme of the size curve, is always sold out by the time the public sale rolls around. This year all but 2 of my non-basic NAS choices are sold out.

I had my heart set on this Trouve Wrap Blouse but it appears completely sold out. (Oh, well, money saved, right?)

Update: it appears they've added a few sizes in the solid colors. I'm going to hold out for the pattern or bust. (Advanced stalking, indeed!)

For my stalking, I haven't left open a separate tab for each item, but I did collect them into my finds, and then I can just click on them. This helped me get two things that were previously sold out, and see the status of the Burberry coat. I don't want to buy it (well, okay I actually do, but I just bought a navy peacoat last year!) but I was curious as to its status. I saw various sizes come and go. Thankfully, never my size!
