I think like you, warm tones. I love my new checked pleated skirt and it is those colours that I would like more of this year.

That is a super cute print on your shirt! I am also inspired by warm earth tones but this is nothing new for me. I am hoping shopping will be easier this fall. I’m still in the Netherlands and there are earth tones EVERYWHERE. Many matched with all shades of blue because blue sells best here. Like you’ve done here, it looks great! I like the pants, that work well with your hair. You need mustard boots

Personally, I crisp earth tones up with white, navy, bright red, citron and fuchsia.

I’m inspired by some trends and a few classics. I’m a Trendy Classic! Generally dressy, but with fashion sneakers and flat dressy boots. No heels. Polished, gorgeous fabrics, lots of colour, lots of dark blue and shades of white, and perfect fit. Tailoring, fluidity, structure, movement, no oversized slouch.

I REALLY want to change up my pants and jeans look - which I’ve been doing gradually over the last few seasons. I’m down to one pair of old floral skinnies that I love - excellent pants for 37hr flights - and will leave it at that. Going trendy on the bottoms and classic on the tops. Hair and eyewear make the statement. Like cinnamon and might add it - but is not a must.

As much as I love skirts and dresses, I default to jeans and pants in cold weather to stay warm since I’m walking in the elements all day.

I'll have to replace a lot of my cold weather things-and need to find things that are dressy, cozy, and forgiving!

Earth tones + deep cooler shades (purples, teals, greens, black), fun footwear (several pairs got Tarragoed), and wrap style tops and dresses. Soft, comfortable pants (no jeans this year), and longer pencil/tube skirts. Have been looking at some nice print maxi cardis too on PC.

I was inspired by that mahogany ethereal page, which combined purples and burgundies with textured dark browns-but there's not much dark brown available. Tooled leather has been on my radar this year, as long as it doesn't look too western.

I'm a teeny bit inspired by earth tones and will add some very carefully chosen shades of brown and beige. That will likely refresh my grey-dominant fw wardrobe. But I have to be careful because earth tones generally don't flatter me.
I'm very inspired by what seems to be a minor trend: the return of purple-mauve (not fuchsia)! Separate post coming when I have the time.

I have to admit, I'm not really sure! Except for improving my ultracasual/lounge clothing, nothing's on my radar as yet ... I'm particularly curious to see if the wide pants look is going to stick around once boot season comes and how folks wear it, or if my suburb stays skinny-committed once the temps dip . .

I'm feeling inspired by my shopping trip with Angie! A slight 80s influence with plaid, trendy bottoms, and mostly classic tops. Also red and fuchsia. Earth tones are not my best so I'll incorporate judiciously in accessories and via taupe, which does work well for me.

I’m not much of a trendster, and spice tones really don’t do much for me, so I’m not heading in that direction. The place I do want to go will probably make people here laugh, because everyone else does it already.

I want to wear my jeans! I always have a pair or two, but rarely put them on. This, despite the fact that my favorite excuse for buying tops that soon become orphans is that I can wear them with “jeans ‘r sumpin’“.

Other than that, I want to pull out the list I made last spring and start checking out Berlin fashion producers. I might look into second-hand shopping, but given how little movement I’ve made in that direction, even with so much light & sound, I’m kinda accepting that it’s not my thing. What I remember from that list: pink shoes (Melvin & Hamilton have a bunch!), menswear pattern pants, cream or pale pink winter pants, a long blackberry or maybe burgundy topper. Generally keep building up the berry complement.

I’ve not thought about it very much because we’re still in summer for a few more weeks, BUT we’ve had a little shift lately and the evenings are cooling off more — BLISS! I love not having to run the AC at night and opening the windows. And I’m wearing pants and jeans a little more now, as daytime highs are no longer hitting 90+.

I’m feeling a little bit of earth tone love, helped along by my new cognac complement of bag and footwear. My color palette is already shifting away from lights and brights to moodier colors, even when I wear shorts and a tee.

But I don’t anticipate any big changes in silhouettes. Still full length bootcuts, straights and some skinnies with tops, jackets and boots, with variations on that theme. Keeps me happy! And of course looking forward to wearing my NAS items.

Wow - so interesting how so many of us are inspired by earth tones! When they first showed up in Angie's trend report, I wanted nothing to do with them - but after seeing them everywhere, I realized they looked fresh after years of a neutral-heavy wardrobe.

Joy - agreed that there is a dearth of earth tones in accessories and socks!

Angie - agreed I need mustard boots! I actually have cognac loafers that would go with the outfit but I didn't want it to feel *too* fallish yet. I love that you are being inspired by classics as well these days, and how you are incorporating them. and also interesting that people in the Netherlands are mixing earth tones with blue too!

Interesting that you and so many others are trying to change up the pants game...either by not wearing jeans (like me) or wearing them more (Like FashIntern - I too have bought many a top by saying it will go with jeans!) or by exploring a new silhouette (Helena - I'll be interested to hear if wide leg pants make it to you too. Once the snow falls I switch to skinnies or winter-weight culottes with boots to save my hems.)

Liesbeth - you sent me down a rabbit hole with that incredible lookbook! I so love tweeds on the moors...and I can't wait for your purple/mauve post. One of my fave colours.

Suntiger - love the idea of earth tones with cooler shades - esp caramel + purple. Can you share that inspiration you talked about? You'll have to post a WIW! And I too am bemoaning the dearth of brown in stores - earth tones seem to be limited to rust, mustard, beige and olive.

Actually Roxanna, I'm giving *you* credit for my fall colour/silhouette ideas. When you started posting your fall Winners finds, and talking about cool/warm combos, a light bulb went off for me. I like earth tones, a lot, but not all at once and not together in one big outfit. Pale grey /rust and blue/cinnamon are now my two colour combos of choice thanks to you.I am thinking I might need to change the tone of my hair to a warmer blonde to make this work though.........we'll see.

Back to silhouettes for fall? I'm impatiently waiting for Angie's fall trend report - but also knowing ahead of time that a lot of what is still trending (big pants, little tops, big shoes etc) isn't how I want to dress. I don't need much in the way of work wear this winter as I think I'm pretty full-up in that dept, but I do need some knitwear for everyday wear.

Great post, Roxanna! I love that outfit -- your recently thrifted Grandpa cardigan is great and I love it with the slate blue pants. The sketchbook style print on your blouse reminds me of those printed summer skirts with European seaside village scenes on them -- do you know what I'm talking about? Anyway it gives your whole outfit a sort of bittersweet, goodbye-summer kind of feel.

Also I wanted to say that I have been mostly reading the forum and haven't had as much chance to comment lately but I have been SUPER inspired by your recent posts about your thrift finds and new style directions! YAY you and THANK YOU for sharing!!!

For fall, I'm excited to lean into the newer half of my style moniker, "Girl on the Moors." More cropped-over-long-over-lean looks, maybe some slightly 19th century details without getting too costumey. I am really inspired by shades of cornflower blue, duck egg and teal, and dusty lavenders and plums. This seems like an autumnal palette that will suit my cool coloring. The idea of strong color contrasts and warm-cool combinations has seemed like "autumn" to me for a while, but right now I'm interested in adding those warm earth tones in very small doses with accessories -- so I'm looking to build complements of amber, carnelian, and Scottish agate jewelry. I am also open to adding warm earth tones on the bottom half, but they have to be very saturated shades, heathered (there's that word again) but not muddy: caramel, whiskey, rust. Not interested in brown and beige.

I have always loved earthtones, and am thrilled to see so much in stores this year! I am loving rust, olive, and toffee/caramel paired with burgundy, grey, navy, and soft black. I haven't been drawn to black or grey in a long, long time, but I really like how they help 'ground' my warmer colors.

Silhouette-wise, I am feeling very 70's inspired... Flare jeans, dusters, graphic t's, midi skirts, raw hems, chunky/funky shoes.

Great cardi.l approve!As for my own fall leanings,l would like a checked jacket possibly long line single breasted ,a red 3/4 length slim fit coat,and an orange scarf.l have already bought an Olive gilet and an orange handbag.l m not a big fan of earth tones on myself but do have a few things already in my wardrobe in toffee if I feel the need to join in with the trend.

First of all, your outfit is smashing!

I find it tough to answer this question. I've been most inspired by Boden's fall range, but I know some of the items are too dressy for my day to day life (tweed pencil skirt). I am thrilled to see their plum color, though, and that there is lots of green around too.

The earth tones so prevalent right now aren't my favorites, but I've added some warmer colors judiciously, such as these jeans in a cinnamon color.

I think I am craving a bit more structure and sophistication but I'm still figuring out what that means in my wardrobe.

Well, I feel the need to refresh my fall skirt capsule with a skirt that is NOT black, grey or navy. However, no typical earth colours for me. But they do look gorgeous on you, Roxanna, and on many others, and on behalf of all you who look great in them I am glad they are back in fashion.

Attractive fall colours for me are: lemon yellow; magenta; wine; all shades of purple; teal; bottle green. In addition to a skirt, I would love to get a pair of oxfords or loafers in any of these colours. From what I have read and seen of fall fashion so far, I guess that items in magenta and purple might be easiest to find. We shall see ...

Great cardigan! I’m liking a touch of mustard and rust red, but I’m otherwise, I’m not personally thrilled about earth tones. Love them on you!

But for fall, I’m loving plaids and checks and leopard. I’m loving high waists and wide legs, belted dresses and coats, and liking the 70s and 80s. Still feeling a Love Story vibe and looking for a good plaid coat.
