Similar question: what's in your wardrobe that's unexpected?

I surprised even myself recently by buying (and loving) a pair of leather pants.

I also own a pair of Badgley Mischka gold flats that are so heavily jeweled my son calls them my "Cersei Lannister shoes".

Graphic tees aren't an integral part of my everyday wardrobe, but I do still own these:

1-3) My 'Written & Directed by Quentin Tarantino' cropped turtleneck works great as both a Kill Bill & Bruce Lee homage (now that I live in Hong Kong!)

4) My 'Somebody Gonna Get a Hurt Real Bad' t-shirt from a Russell Peters stand-up comedy performance 10+ years ago - I've been babying it because I'm worried the print will fade, but I've now moved it to my UK Black Capsule Wardrobe (where it will hopefully get more usage)

5) My Icebreaker 'Move to Natural' merino thermal crewneck is a relatively new purchase, but was useful during our recent cold spell. I like the 70s styled typeface

Hmm.. now what would be surprising in my wardrobe, and to whom exactly.. I do own a couple of Jiu Jitsu-gi's, and have some fun pub crawl tees. I did own a half-marathon tee, but donated it. It only reminded me that that was too long ago, lol!

Surprising to me, I have that bright red dress I'm absolutely fond of. Despite disliking and avoiding red in general.

Surprising to others, I guess my H&M x The Vampire's Wife cape could qualify as my gothic phase is long over. But I bought it for Halloween, and ended up wearing it to the opera as well...

Great question! The most surprising item I have in my closet is a vintage 1950s 100% silk, black and ivory bowling shirt that belonged to my husband's father. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. ND's father since he passed at the age of 94, a few years before we met. He was a WWII vet and Bronze Star recipient who was injured while fighting in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. Mr. ND wanted to get rid of the shirt, but I convinced him to let me keep it. Instead of letting the shirt sit in my closet, I am going to have the shirt altered to fit me.

My answer would work for Angie's post today, too. I have two tulle skirts. I wore them often three years ago because we attend many performances and they worked for that. Since Covid, I've only worn the black one twice, last fall for Thanksgiving and on a rainy, cold day to perk things up. I wore it with a black sweatshirt at home but out and about I wore it with motto boots, sweater, and black faux leather motto jacket.

A really fun question! I'm disappointing myself that I don't really have any bonkers thing to report.

Does a prized possession count? How about a velvet blazer that my grandfather, who was a tailor, made for my grandmother, a seamstress? I had a button moved to make it more modern, but otherwise when I wear it it feels like it was made for me, and I don't care if you're wearing head-to-toe designer, my origin story is better...

bonnie, I had -- and adored -- that same WHBM skirt, until someone (might have been me) spilled red wine all over it.

The me I am today knows how to remove red wine stains but then I didn't. I miss that skirt.

Angie, I also have a pair of white Crocs but mine are the ones from the Crocs/Alyx did a colab. Sorry, but that makes me cooler than you. AS IF!

I'm not Jewish, but I have a pair of blue flannel Hanukkah cat pajamas. Mr. Xtabay ordered them thinking they were just plain cat pjs, but these cats are in full Hanukkah celebratory mode, saying things like "Meowzeltov" and wearing yarmulkes! I just love them.
