What's fringe for S/S 2014?

Looking at Angie's list for spring/summer 2014, I have most of it and some of it for a couple years.
So I'm trying to figure what is on the cusp/fringe for the upcoming season.

I know she has said things mules are fringe, but I know you are looking for more.

Thanks for linking from the post. Fringe - so far:

Mules, garments with sheer panels, Birkenstocks, overalls, jumpsuits, garments with the new short sleeve styles, round shoulders, bucket bags, culottes, avant-garde pieces (dresses and skirts over pants), sleeveless jackets (gilets), two-piece dresses and front side vented pencil skirts.

It's not exhaustive and I have to run, but perhaps chew on that for a while.

Mom jeans, seen some super destroyed denim walk shorts. Seen really chunky and lug sole 90s type sandals reigning on Solestruck. Envelope/wrap skirts. Palazzo pants.

Anna -- Interesting thread. I had to check in to see what Angie and others have suggested. Yikes! Some of these items look like stuff right out of my husband's closet (Tevas with white athletic socks, Man jeans with optional large holes and patches, Birkies, Lug soles). Perhaps I should raid it?! And I say "yay" for culottes!

Rae -- wrap skirts, huh? I used to love a good wrap skirt. Of course, that was about 15 lbs ago. Still, intriguing.

Hmm, I have overalls. I have two jumpsuits, both silk, one black and one floral.
Culottes intrigue me. Though the ones I like on net-a-porter were pretty expensive.
I do want the white Birkenstock Arizonas (two strap), but am trying to remember I live in Seattle with our very short summer.
Mules, I remember an Acne pair last year I debated.

Janet, yeah, I think I'll pass on the look too (see attached photo). Granted, they look like granny panties so are rather substantial, but still!

Also, I've been seeing more iterations of the knee-high gladiator sandal that started appearing 2012/2013.

Well. You could wear Birkies with jeans as a way to stay warm.

Anna, you can get the white Arizona Birks on ebay for cheap enough to justify the short wear...I've seen them for as low as $40

Hmm. I picked up a jacket with more bishops sleeves than puff, but they're still puffy... I really want some culottes. I keep saying that and it keeps on being true. I'm wearing a jumpsuit today (not really right for the office, but there you have it). Still looking for a nice, long gilet - this may be like the elusive culottes.

My gladiator sandal boots are about three years old. I remember Angie advised against them initially & I kept them.

Ah, yes. That's true. If I remember correctly Anna, I advised against them because of your ability to wear them in Seattle from a weather point of view. We have a few days of real Summer a year, and you had many pairs of sandals already. I have since learned - over the years that you have been on this forum - that you are content with wearing your items very few times, and have no need to get X-amount from your fashion buck - which is the case for most people. I hope that makes sense, and I'm glad you've enjoyed your gladiator boots.

Rachy, the Bishops sleeve is a different type of puff. It's not gathered at the crown I believe. I like a Bishops puff too.

Angie, you are correct. But sometimes I'm so ahead of the curve that I enjoy the trends for quite a while. I mean I'm going three years on mint.
I'm just trying to be a bit more focused with my purchases. And not getting the R13 distressed jeans has left me a bit stumped. I'm used to having laser focus on fashion trends that I want, and this season I'm perplexed. Hence this thread.

I hear you, Anna. You ARE ahead of the curve, and that's a fun place to be in your style journey. It's good that you're becoming more focused on your purchases - kind of part of the fun too. It's like figuring out a puzzle. My suggestion would be to just hang tight for a while until something new to you grabs your fancy - we are only half way through the retail season. Or replicate the trends that you like the most. Personally, I do that as frequently than trying something new.

(I'm impressed you've had your gladiator boots for three years, and they look fabulous).
