This dress arrived late last week, and it's a keeper! I have a few upcoming occasions to wear it, including a mid-July afternoon indoor wedding. I know I'll want something over my shoulders at some point (and it's Seattle, so...). Besides the two cardigan options which seem a little predictable, does anyone have any other suggestions? I have the white jacket, but it skews corporate with the dress. Thanks for any/all ideas!
Did you get that navy one? I don't know about for the wedding (see earlier debates re: denim and weddings!) but I like the idea of one of those modern denim jackets in white or cream or blush. Maybe for the wedding a shawl in a more vivid yellow?
Although I love blazers, I can see where it might look corporate as you say. I like the shrug or cardi look but would agree with LISA and say a wrap in either the same cream as flowers or an unexpected color if you are planning to accessorize in another color. It is a beautiful dress and will look wonderful for an afternoon wedding.
Oh, good call on a wrap! And, I just thought about my soft gold button-front tunic I've worn open as a jacket for occasions before, which I'll try with it. Thanks all!
Oh the old dilemma of how to find a topper that does justice to a beautiful dress. Been there....
The gold wrap seems like a nice option to me, the soft drape of it would contrast well with the firmer structure of the dress. My only other ideas are either a leather jacket or a trench coat.
Best of luck with it.
Just to be awkward, I'd tend to go with the cream blazer ... To me it doesn't look corporate and would be very polished for an afternoon wedding. Plus Kate Middleton wears blazers to weddings often
Wow, more great options to try! I’ll take the dress with me this week and try a variety of toppers to complete this dress - and work with other looks in my wardrobe. Many thanks!
