In general, if money were no object...

I would pay dearly for a perfect for me trench (in fit and style) and a fail-proof event dress that made me look like a rock star. Also I would custom design my own boots

I can answer this easily, because I think about these items fairly often! I dream of a flattering swimsuit, one that is supportive, without being matronly. I'd pay to have it custom fitted. I also would pay for shoes and boots that were the right width and size for my fussy feet. I'd pay for a custom last on boots and shoes, and to have them fit like ski boots fit after custom heat molding.

I would splurge on a winter coat with both elegance and longevity, stylish boots that fit and were comfortable, and one glorious dress.

Most other things, I am completely happy with at price points within my budget.

Super-comfortable dressy knee-high black boots that are short enough for my calves and fit my upper leg without slouching weirdly around my ankles. And, if these existed, I'd probably be tempted to buy them in cognac too.

And a jacket that magically fits me perfectly everywhere. Maybe two, a basic black one and one that's versatile but a little less basic.

And it goes without saying that I'd completely love them both style-wise too. No good-enough compromise options I'm buying because the fit is great even though they seem a little frumpy or have a detail or two that bugs me.

I've always wanted to design my own line of shift dresses for rectangles.

I would own trench-length coats in every fabric, as far as the eye could see.

And I'd have custom-made cowboy boots.

I would give my next born (laughing as I type that) for the perfect blazer...one that would go from jeans to a dress and still look absolutely right...I have long dreamed of such and never found it...

The perfect black suit in an all seasons material with jacket, skirt, pants and dress. With extra blazer in black and gray or black and cream glen plaid. Followed by the perfect black trench with removable lining and hood. Then I'd be pretty much set for anything. Gosh the thrill of that thought!!

Perfect summer pants...cool as linen but not such a mess, loose but not shlubby, just enough flare from the knee down, full length, flat back pockets.

Chiming in to say that sewing your own swimsuit -- to fit and flatter your figure -- is not that difficult. Custom cobbling my dream boots OTOH is beyond my capabilities ;-).

It is a shame we seem to have lost touch with sewing skills, or even access to good tailors. Many of things folks are looking for could be custom made for much less than off-the-rack designer wear.

Laurinda, you make it sound so easy! But you're right. I have a sewing machine that I have never used -- I've actually thought about selling it, but something stops me every time. I haven't sewn on a machine since I was about 16, so I'd be lost without some directions. I'm sure I could figure it out, but it's one more thing I'd have to make time for. Considering I've been thinking about designing some tops using some custom printed fabric from my photographs, I may have to pull out that machine and try it out.

Nothing, really, even if I had infinite resources. There's nothing i need that I havent been able to find a halfway decent version of, honestly.

Now, if I could buy myself infinite time in order to become a better seamstress and make exactly what I wanted and that fit me perfectly, I would definitely do that.

Of COURSE the Acne jacket that I said was out of my range has just appeared on Ebay for within my range - but in a 36, and the 38 gives the perfect oversized look. 36 fits just fine, better than the jacket I have now, but... Hmmm.

Re swimsuit, I have a hilarious story to relate about an experience I just had in Florida. Will share when not on phone. However my sister and I found swimsuits at a cheapie place that were perfect and for $9 each I bought 4. For as little as I swim those should last a lifetime even if they fall apart. Will never have to shop for a suit again!!!!

If money grew on trees, I'd get a blow-out everyday ... such an indulgence to get your hair done. But can't think of an actual "thing" I'd get, truth be told. I'l probably still be shopping at Target! (but with super-awesome hair)
