Or rather, what would Holden Caulfield wear if he were a real person alive in 2010, with a budget that stretched to designer clothes?

I'm most familiar with the Jane Austen characters, and think this guy gets them mostly right. But Lydia Bennet would definitely wear shorter dresses than the ones he chose. It's lots of fun thinking about it!

I think he's got some spot on- Alexandra Romanov, Liesl Von Trapp, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Sara Crewe. I'm not convinced on Anne of Green Gables or Jane Eyre, though.

That was fun. Don't you think there would be somebody who would wear nice designer jeans!? like Anne of Green Gables? I agree that Lydia would wear something shorter and flirty. The third dress is ok. I could see her sporting short shorts too.
He needs to address Mr. Darcy.

OOOH!! The bookworm in me loves this idea! And without even the benefit of pics, I'm confident in saying Lydia Bennet would sport clubwear at all times...and her tops would betray her need to consult Maya's bra-fitting thread!

LOL, Michelle, you crack me up! Well said.
Lydia and all the characters are pictured in three outfits. The first is bright yellow, but almost knee length and a sack dress that surrenders the waist.
The second dress is a shiny silvery fabric with a plunging neckline and ruffle at the hem. lydia might wear it but it seems too sophisicated for her. It has short sleeves and is stylishly short and has draping going on.
The third dress is sleeveless and fitted on top with a gathered skirt. It looks like a white sundress with a print of scattered gold and black roses. It's short and flirty and has this big heart cut out on the chest/bust. She carries a bag with a bow and wears amazing footwear that look like her feet and ankles have been bandaged with rosebud printed fabric.

I don't think the last one for Anne of Green Gables is right, but I don't mind the crazy gingham or the shorts.

Honestly, most of them are really not correct- Anne of Green Gables would not wear designer jeans at all- Marilla Cuthbert would be dressing her from Walmart or the thrift store, but they are still fun to look at.

Looking through, it looks like all the clothing picked was from designer collections...more of a what would this character pick from designers.
Stringy, I agree about the gingham and the shorts for AoGG.

Thanks for posting this. I think the AoGG dressing depends on whether or not it is prior to or after the chapter where Rachel Lynde makes her a dress with puffed sleeves (after that Marilla makes her nice clothes, and she even gets a dressmaker to make some of them).

I love Willy Wonka's turquoise suit!

I think the collage is made to represent what these characters/historical figures would choose from designer collections rather than being a very literal interpretation. I wouldn't be even half as interested if these were all "normal" clothes, let alone from Walmart (sorry Walmart shoppers).
