What was your most recent style shift?

My most recent shift was to move from very classic looks to a look which incorporates trends, but is still classic. I am having sooo much fun with trying new things that I would never have considered a year ago.

There are also a few things that I am toying with that haven't risen to the level of a style shift. I am loving clothes with drape. Things like flowy cardigans and I have been eyeing the EF harem pants, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. For now, drapey clothes are not a style shift, just something I'm experimenting with.

I'm curious, what are your most recent style shifts? Is there anything you are experimenting with which isn't yet a style shift?

Adding navy to my black wardrobe is a style shift for me...I am experimenting and using some great ideas from other Fabers...
This is really a big shift for me...I am looking at navy when I shop both in b&m stores and online...I have a feeling that I am going to be really happy with this look when I refine and perfect the pieces...

Mine is more a shopping shift than a style one. Finally getting closer to the less is more; fewer, better pieces. One awesome shirt can take the place of 5 lesser ones, and I am happier when I wear it, as well. Which, in turn, should help me to repeat more often, which is my big picture goal.

Mine has been moving from a more youthful, retro, twee arty to a more sophisticated, sleek, and avant-garde arty.

I've gone from lots of color to lots of neutral with or without a pop of color. Huge shift for me.

The last shift was from fitted tops and looser bottoms to looser tops and fitted bottoms. This still holds today. I have no interest in the looser bottoms in the market right now.

Needless to say, my closet has struggled to keep up;-)

My last shift was from body con to fitted to light drape. My current shift is to things that are a little more avante garde.

I am not sure it is a "shift" exactly, but I've been incorporating sporty luxe.

I think my main shift has been away from retro/ arty and towards increasing minimalism/ modernism/ simplicity.

Hmmm...I have been trying to update *my* casual to a more dressy casual. It just feels more appropriate to me now. For example, I have been wearing more bracelets and nicer tops with denim bottoms, for example. This seems to elevate my summer casual a bit more and I am suddenly getting compliments. Previously, I was all about the minimal during hot weather. Also, like Carter, I have gravitated to neutrals this past year, having purged a lot of things. My closet suddenly has very few bright colors, even though I think I am a true winter, color-wise. Not sure what that's about...I hope I am not "fading" LOL.

Crutcher, replacing black with navy is a great style shift! I have been adding navy too, it is a dark neutral but has a very different vibe than black.

Angie & Suz, Go Sporty Luxe! I think you both can rock that trend. If you both think I can pull off the harem pants, I think I am going to pull the trigger.

Mo, I hear you on having fewer better quality pieces. I am actually thinking through what my minimal wardrobe needs are. I want to get to a point where I have very few clothes but rotate them often.

Diana, avant-garde & arty sounds so fun. I am going to watch and learn from you.

Carter, moving from colors to neutrals. I'm a color girl myself so I can appreciate how big a shift this would be.

Shedev, I have no idea how to cultivate an avant-garde look so I am looking forward to learning from you.

Aquamarine, I love dressy casual. Shifting away from color seems like a huge shift. I wonder if people are tired with color since it has been big for so many seasons and people are ready for a change.

I have no idea either, so it's gonna be fun. I do mean the post apoptolyptic kind, not the Lady Gaga stage costume kind. I haven't completely lost my mind. It is interesting to look at.

Not so much a style shift but I've gone from dressing for aesthetics first before comfort to dressing for comfort first! I wear less fussy clothing. I also now limit the UWP side of me to shoes and accessories and the romantic side to flowy/draped tops. The ruffles/Victoriana component of my style has almost been phased out.

I think my shift was when I went realized boho wasn't for me. I felt like I kept trying and trying, but it didn't feel right. I embraced classic silhouettes with a gamine and/or retro feels and I feels right.

You'll have to show us how the EF pants work for you.

Hmmm...after trying to get away from modern classic, I have turned back to it...but with a sleeker rendition and not as stuffy. (Maybe I was dressing classic, and not modern classic, in the first place?)

I have also found that I am even less trend driven than I thought. I haven't tried out many trends, simply because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, but I think that might have been a blessing in disguise. I feel like I am really after a core style that is pretty stable and not dependent on trends. Although I do have a few pairs of ankle pants!

And as to boho, I have finally found a way to incorporate boho into my looks! I could find no boho clothing that fit...until I found Anthropologie's unbelievable petites' selection! So I am back to incorporating boho into my style. Now I just need a second job to pay Anthro's prices...

Looking through older clothes I realized that I've gone from a much more conflicted style to very classic. I feel as though I'm rebuilding a wardrobe from scratch and relying on classic to get basics in line. I'm excited to see where it goes from here as I would like to build on the classic basics to incorporate my love of art and world cultures and a bit of my roots and wild side into those looks.

Unwillingly, to comfy easy work looks like some of the K/R items I posted today. I like them enough but would rather be more RATE or ironically more tailored, but neither is great for my work life.

I went and had a look at my selfies from 2011 to now. Amazing what a person can be totally oblivious too! But from looking, obviously one of the biggest shifts has been growing my hair out from a short short asymmetric bob. I'd say the next biggest change has been abandoning "office trousers." I think I'd also have to say I've been purging "cute." My style is a little grittier. That's probably all due to leaving the 'burbs.

My most recent shift has been away from professional clothing (the jackets and pencil skirts I wore daily when I was working) and toward crafting an interesting casual style. I want it to be practical for my days of errands, cooking, and cleaning, and not to rely overly much on gear.

Of course, some kinds of gear are in fashion at the moment, but my goal is not to slide into an I-give-up pattern of yoga pants and hoodies.

I'm not sure its quite a style shift but I am being much pickier in my purchases and also not shopping as much...except shoes, I keep adding shoes haha.

I am going cleaner and simpler, less layered. A year ago I was wearing scarves with everything, and didn't feel complete without some sort of third piece (scarf or vest; no room in my life/inside my white coat for jackets and blazers). Now I often feel the outfit looks complete with just a top and a bottom (although I often audition several pairs of shoes in front of the full length mirror before I'm satisfied); occasionally an awkward neckline or odd proportions will lead me to a scarf, but it's no longer my default.

Mine has been the addition of black to my wardrobe, and generally simplifying my looks. I used to be all about color and pattern and statement jewelry but I'm enjoying my pared down wardrobe.

I've moved to having lots and lots of black and white in my wardrobe. Not the most practical with young kids, so I try to stick to work wear.
