Great blazer, MaryK! It looks so fresh with everything, I can see why you love it.

For me it has been an old Talbots brown-and-cream floral print a-line skirt. So cool, no-nonsense, never needs ironing, goes with a ton of different tops. I shall post an outfit featuring it soon, and give it the due it so richly deserves. I never wore it much till I started looking at you fabbers. I got so many new ideas of what to pair it with that the skirt got a whole new life! Yay!

White denim vest that cost me only $20.00. If I'd have known I would wear it so much I would have bought 2, (by the time I thought of it they were sold out.) one would always be in the wash! LOL It goes with *everything* in my casual wardrobe, is wearable in the hottest conditions we get and adds a little "layering" love when I can't usually layer.

Summer's MVP here for sure!

It's been such a hot summer: White Mt. 'Carly' sandals in a bluish-green and gold leopard, Born 'Kai' in Panna Cotta (a muted gold).and I FINALLY found a pair of wide, comfortable, dressy sandals (Softspots 'Neima') that work with my skin tone.

Love that tuxedo jacket, MaryK. Looks great with everything from BF jeans to pencil skirts. I bet you can wear it all winter, too.

Sparkly ballet flats, Madewell grey heather sweatshirt fabric dress, BF jeans, slouchy tee shirts.

It was a strange summer. Hot, but I wasn't in the mood for dresses. Is anyone else officially sick of summer?? Bring on the crisp cool weather!

I bought some Kork-Ease sandals. I loved them with skirts, slacks and capri pants. Because of their height I always felt slimmer, yet because of the wedge, they were kind to my feet.

I agree with your choice. I have a white Denim jacket I wore to death, but overall it's a tossup but the consignment purchases win by a longshot: My 7FAMK crop Josefina skinny bf jeans (1-2 consignment purchase) and BR slim denim bermudas (3) by far got worn at every turn, also J Crew Tunic top (4) (also Consignment) and my favorite sandals EVER: http://www.6pm.com/clarks-wood.....ck-leather

An $8 blue/purple cotton ikat pull-on skirt from Joe Fresh that I tossed into my grocery cart along with my orange juice and fresh veg on an early summer grocery trip. It was hanging on the sale rack, marked down from $16.

It was constantly in the wash this summer because it never needed ironing and worked with all my tops. The CPW for this thing must be about $.02.

As my mom would say - that blazer owes you nothing! Isn't it great to have such a blazer that transforms everything?
I've been pondering your question - and it's really hard to point to one item. I felt this summer that I really enjoyed my wardrobe and gave all the players a fair rotation.
However...one thing that surprised me. I bought this beautiful coral shade of polish that has been on my toes all summer - and I still am not tired of it! Love looking at my toes especially in a pair of sandals I purchased at the beginning of summer.

Oh, merwoman, how could I forget about my coral toes all summer?! I think that's why I loved my fluorescent coral clutch so much - they seemed to match! I'm still not tired of mine either

What a great thread, and what fun stories and discoveries.

Mary K, no wonder that jacket was your best summer purchase. It is a winner in every way.

My best purchases might just have been 2 "free" items from consignment - my bright print ootton skirt, and the top I got there to go with it, plus the flat black sandals. It felt like such a quintessential "fun" summer outfit - easy, breezy, fresh, a bit retro.

Another favourite was my nautical sweater (waving at MaryK, sweater twin). When I was in the cooler mountain air I wore this almost every day.

Bonus: family pics. My 87 year old mum, and my daughter and hubs.

Mine was my white denim NYDJ pencil skirt. It's the perfect length and fit.

I think it's a wash between Cole Haan Tali wedge and an $7 LandsEnd canvas polka dot silk shirt.

Also these white bootcuts (on sale on Amazon now).

Love your jacket, by the way!

This is a really eye-opening thread!

I'm going with my Vince Camuto black, emerald, and citron banded blouse. Totally changed my mind about waist-surrendering silhouettes.

My nude Franco Sarto wedge sandals and yellow / white Hush Puppies oxfords: I wore each of them at least once a week this summer. They had this ability to make anything I wear with them look good.

The Vince Camuto top I stalked for weeks until is went on steep discount. It was a "statement" piece that helped me embrace a whole new silhouette.

BTW, MaryK, I loved the cat in pic #8! It reminds me of the squirrel in the vacation pic:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new.....photo.html

My workhorses were a navy jersey dress and my "stone" Frye oxfords. The dress is ridiculously comfortable and the oxfords add structure to all my soft clothes.
Here's one of the few outfit pics I managed this summer - wearing both.

Love the squirrel, JAileen.

great read here! mine where white chino slacks that I loved so much I went back and duplicated, (in case they get a stain) and then duplicated again in navy. They have transformed my style!
