What Topper for Tunic? - YouLookFab Forum

I’ve had this tunic top for a little over a year (pic.1, Linea Domain from Stein Mart). It appeals to me because it has structured drapes and gathers without adding much volume, a feature I don’t find often. My question is - What style of topper goes with it? I’m looking to buy a couple more tunic-length tops and need to see if I already have toppers for them.

Pic. 2 shows how I wore it, with a Lucky Brand cardigan, does it look a bit sloppy?

Pic. 3 is with a wider-neck INC cardi with a slight waterfall collar – is this too much draping in too many directions?

Pic. 4 is with a waist-length ponte jacket which has a some structure and epaulets for a bit of military feel - Is the style of the jacket too tailored/structured for the feel of the tunic?

If none of these work well, what would you suggest?

(All worn with vintage boots – their replacement is my current Highly Elusive Wardrobe Item.)

Looks great on you! I really love that tunic, especially the draping and asymmetric look! Looks like something from Vince to me. My favorite is the way you wore it, but I also like it in pic. 4 too. (New sleek black boots are my HEWI too.)

First of all, I love this tunic! The shape is so interesting. I think the structured jacket in #4 works the best because of the length, but I also like it as is, with no topper.

Oooh, that tunic is gorgeous, and you wear it beautifully! I like #3 and #4 best, or the tunic on its own. #2 looks very nice, but it seems like a shame to cover so much of the tunic's unique draping. (Also, your boots are awesome!)

The tunic is fabulous, and I like it best on its own so one can see the draping and interesting details. But the topper in #3 is my favourite. Great outfit!

I like #3 but it is simply smashing on it's own! Maybe a thin layer underneath if you need warmth.

Thank you ladies for the great feedback. It has given me excellent direction with proportions, and I won't shy away from wearing a tunic with a short jacket in the future. I do like the tunic by itself as well, but wanted to see how it works with a topper.

Each version here looks fabulous Gracie! I adore the tunic. What a find. The different toppers create slightly different vibes taking the tunic from casual to office IMHO.
