What to wear with this dress ?

I am absolutely crazy about this dress :

But I can't figure how I could wear it.
I think it would fit dark brown shoes and a long coat
But what about the tights ??
Black would create too much of a contrast and I am worried it would look unclassy

What do you think ? Is it a good idea to purchase it ?

Patterned tights would work and must be trending, as I am seeing them everywhere.

How about boots and some fun patterned socks or tights? If you are going for a minimal or lower contrast look, you might use some fine weave pale grey tights and similarly toned booties or shoes. Maybe even some sheer colored hose or some hose with something ivory printed on it so they look intentional….if that doesn’t seem too old ladyish….

Why would it look weird? Just Google some pics to make yourself feel more comfortable about it. I like the idea of ivory tights too with the brown boots you mention.

I think black tights could work with a black bag and footwear. But If brown shoes I agree a different colour tights. I’d consider chocolate brown or taupe.

I think you will have to try this dress on to know if it loves you back.
I love that dress too but I have found ribbed knits to be tricky.

My concerns:
I think that ribbed knit could possibly be unforgiving to any little bump, especially if it’s even just slightly thin.
The ribs could flatten and relax against the body’s curves, giving emphasis. ( not necessarily bad) The dress could cling against your bottom rather than falling vertically, giving a sexy rather than elegant vibe. (Not necessarily a negative) You will probably need to plan the undergarments for this dress.

A simple classic cream dress such as this could be the backbone of a capsule. It could be very versatile, dressed up/down etc. If it’s the backbone of a capsule, maybe some cream booties or strappy shoes, sandals or heels.
