What to Wear With This Blazer?

I signed up on this site to get advice. If I like it, I'll continue to use the site So I'm very new here.

I am currently a freshman in college and have been looking at more business casual clothing items to expand my wardrobe. I came upon this blazer at a store yesterday and absolutely loved it. It was expensive, so I searched online and found the same blazer for much cheaper.

I can already see myself wearing this casually with jeans and a t-shirt, dressing it up with a necklace (etc), or wearing this "edgy."

I was hoping that I can wear it as a business casual outfit. The only problem is, I'm unsure how I'd go about doing that. Grey pants? A skirt? (Business casual means no jeans, nice shoes, etc) Please help!! The blazer is below.

Gorgeous blazer. I would wear it over a shift dress and a skinny belt, with a great pair of heels or embellished flats. I like the grey-blue combination a lot, but you might try a shade of red or even yellow to spice things up a bit.

I actually think that this jacket would be easier to use for business formal than for business casual. If you did a perfectly crisp white shirt, a real woolen pencil skirt, nude stockings and conservative pumps, jewelry and purse, this could work. Otherwise, I think that because it is both striped and oversized, if you pair it with more relaxed items like basic gray trousers, in my opinion, it will likely just read like a hand-me-down jacket, considering your age.

@Violettt, thanks! I've definitely been exploring more with my style lately, but I know I'd love to dress business chic for a future career job and any 'professional' events I go to while in college.

@3style, I can see what you mean. The jacket does look frumpy on the model, but when I tried it on, it fit well. I tried an XS with the sleeves rolled up and loved it. But it's worth considering that maybe this blazer isn't good for business casual-- the sleeves will most likely make the ensemble look baggy. Thanks!

Haven't ordered the jacket yet but will take everything into consideration before/and if I buy

great blazer...i can totally see this working in a business casual environment. i'd pair it with navy, grey, white, black pants or if you could step out and wear it with red pants. to keep it more casual and less formal, i'd pair it with a nice knit top. or try wearing it over a knit dress

Love kkards ideas for the blazer. You could pattern mix with black and grey plaid on the bottom or a dark floral. I like the loafers or you could wear oxfords for business casual.

I think it's great! And for business casual, I'd do a cuffed or cropped trouser and a white t-shirt, and oxfords or booties. Pants probably in the navy or the other colour in the stripe (it IS navy and cognac or something, right?)

Btw - Heartloom is a great brand for the price ( I have a couple of pieces and really like them) and is really popular in indie boutiques right now. Good find!

Mel, I'm definitely sensitive to the oversized blazer challenges because I have big shoulders and a short torso so most blazers just billow around the waist and look frumpy. If it looks more streamlined in person, and especially if you have a long torso, so that the blazer doesn't seem so long on you, then it could look stylish and not like you borrowed it from an older sister.
