What to wear with mustard moto-ish jacket?

I just ordered the jacket linked and pictured below from Eloquii (The Limited's plus-size line) and if it fits and the color suits me, it could add some pizzazz to my basics. Reviews say the closure is asymmetrical so I'm hoping it'll have a moto feel. I can see it looking great with pale colors in the spring and summer (it's rarely too warm for a jacket in Seattle!) and with deep colors in colder weather. It's faux leather, which pleases my budget and will please my vegan friends. And it was on sale for $69 with promo code!

What silhouettes and colors would you wear it with?

Chrizzle, that jacket looks gorgeous. I love the color and I agree this will be a lovely color on you.

I could see the following silhouettes, straight leg pants and heels/flats, knee length pencil skirt, nice straight midi skirt. Dresses could work under it as well, and boots. I would ne keeping the silhouette fairly streamlined.

Ooh, I like that, Kiwichik. Tres chic! I'd probably have to settle for a much more ordinary skirt than that (and of course, lower heels), but I like the general idea. I like the pop of cobalt from the bag.

Thanks, Deborah. I think the advice to keep it streamlined is good. Do you think it would work with wide-legged trousers if I kept the top fitted?

Chrizzle, I suspect wide-legged pants would work if you pushed up the sleeves like shown on the model. A deeper neckline on the top would help too.

I often like the toughness of a moto with very lightweight girly fabrics, so consider that if you don't mind a more floaty or flowing skirt or dress below. Something sheer, lacy or in tiers, or a floral print, could look amazing!

In terms of colours, I think the easy options are pale blue, cobalt, teal, dark green, most shades of red and orange, purple, dark chocolate brown, caramel... And of course black and white or cream, whichever suits you better.

Yes to the wide leg trousers as long as the jacket sits on you like on the model. If the jacket is too long it won't work with a wide leg but I think this should work well.

Agreeing with other posters and I'll also add I have a jacket not exactly a twin of this one but pretty similar in cut and color. I tried finding a WIW pic from a few months back but gave up...but I found that this color actually can work great as a sort of neutral. It's much more versatile than you'd think. So try being creative with it!

Unfortunately, I can't open the polyvore link from work but I have a similar shaped jacket in black. I found it worked really well over sheath dresses. I would pair it with a deep aubergine if I wanted it to stand out as the star of the outfit or possibly with a brighter purple for a more bold look. Add a pair of tights and neutral boots and you have a great look that is easy.

I looked at the pic and could see that the zipper angled so I think you will get the moto look you want.

I just saw that jacket on line. I never knew about this brand until I saw it on a bloggers links (she has some nice outfit pairings - mostly skirts - http://surelysonsy.blogspot.com/) and cruised the site a bit. You got a deal on that!

I think that jacket is going to look lovely on you! That style should work with all kinds of silhouettes! I like the links others are posting for ideas! It would be a natural of course with neutrals like black or navy or cream. I think the mustard color would also work with colorful bottoms like red trousers or skirts or cobalt. Teamed over a sheath dress. There are no rules!!!
