What to Wear with Boots

I bought these boots in the darker brown color (not shown).

We are going to my partners brothers' house for dinner this evening and I'd like to take the boots out for a test run. I'm not sure what to wear with them though. It will be casual but I often dress up more than the rest so am open to any ideas. I read the links on boots from another thread and think I need to keep the legs fairly low contrast. Can narrow jeans be worn with these or do I need to stick to skirts/dresses?

I loved the boots when ordering but am not not sure what to do with them. Based on my first try-out, they are comfortable.

those are fabulous! I'd build an outfit around skinny jeans with these. do you have skinny jeans?

Not super skinny. I don't like having pants that are too snug on my thighs.

If I wore the semi-skinny jeans would I just let them bunch a bit above the boots?

That should work. Look at how Phoebe's jeans bunch a bit above her boots in this blog post. One difference is that your boots are more fitted, but it should still work. Perhaps pleat the leg over nicely to give a more fitted look?

Is it cold enough where you are to wear these? Oh no, I sense the winter coming...

If slim jeans won't work, do you have a skirt and tights you can pair them with? Show us some pics!

Anything, really. Jeans or a cute brown skirt (or any color, really) with sweet tights. Beautiful booties!

Sadly it went from about 30C down to pretty darn cold in one day so it is easily cold enough for boots.

I will take a look at my closet when I get home and see what will work. I really need to find a casual skirt or two for wearing with boots since I now have a lot of them.

Oh wow - those are GREAT boots! I can see these with a little sweater dress and textured tights. Not sure about a straighter leg jean unless you hide that fab fur detail by wearing the pant over the boots. You'll have to experiment (and let us see the results!). Does that mean you don't wear leggings either? These would look cute with a long cozy sweater and leggings.

Do you have any tapered trousers? You could try those in place of skinnies as well for a dressier look.

Well I had a bit of a change of plan. Something came up and I had little time to get ready.Tony ran to my place to pick up my things while I had a shower. I ended up wearing the grey straight leg jeans and brown faux leather jacket and a black tie neck blouse. I knew I'd be taking the boots off when I got there so it worked and it was a good test of the boots for comfort. I think they are winners.

The pic isn't great. The jacket and boots look black but are shades of brown. I am thinking I may wear the booties with brown tights and a black ponte knit dress one day next week.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep them for the next time.

Yes I could see a tapered trouser with these. Leggings too. I think they are great boots however I thi k I might need to see some pics. Hmmm would they work with a pencil midi skirt?

Hmm...the only pencil midi I have is red ponte knit. It might work with brown tights but would need a pretty sedate supporting cast with the knit skirt and boot.

Oh, I think these boots would look fab with burgundy tights! That's the first color that came to mind. I remember the Academichics suggesting burgundy and teal as two of the best colors for colored tights outfits. These boots are so cute!
