Kohl's has quite a few slips, too, as well as slip shorts and pettipants.

They're in store, just along the back wall of the lingerie section usually. I have about 6 of the Vanity Fair half slips in different lengths and colors.

I'll second the suggestion for Vermont Country Store if you want a good selection of slips. Nice family-run business that sources and stocks a lot of stuff most of us assume has phased out of existence. Very fun to shop in-person if you ever get the chance (so many fudge samples! just sayin').

Culotte slips and petti-pants are fantastic; I like them for static prevention, but they'd be perfect for remedying sheerness and chafing as well. https://www.vermontcountrystor.....duct/16072

Ha the Cat about Diana! I did know that. She was embarrassed and was very young, about 19. But I still thought it didn’t end up hurting her, she still got her Prince. Though whether that was a great idea in the end is somewhat debatable, poor woman.

I would wear and enjoy, exactly as you say, we all have legs!

I’ve a marks and Spencer’s slip which is about 25 years old. It’s perfect for me, almost indestructible I think and must wear it about once a week.

I have a few full slips that I wear mostly in summer with different dresses and skirts. I have two dresses that definitely require a slip unless I was going to do the celebrity route of big pants and a bra meant to be seen........ probably not at 49 in a provincial city!!

I think any of the options would work, I don't wear slip shorts but I like the look of the loose pettipants.

I struggle with static cling when I wear slips! So you can't see through my skirt, but it ends up all stuck to me and bunched up!

I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned this. Maybe I'm an electric freak of nature?

hereforthecake, a few tips to avoid static cling:
● Use a steel hanger over the garment--let it touch the slip and move it up and down and sideways for a few seconds.
● Use bodylotion (or handlotion) on your thighs. Avoid dryness.
● Let your clothes (including slips) air dry. Or use the tumble dryer for a few minutes only.

The Cat, I haven’t tried the metal hanger yet, but the other tips have been ineffective here in the desert. I think it’s because of the low humidity.

I think static cling is also related to fabrication. . .I've wanted a taffeta slip to replace one that has gone missing for years, but they seem not to be made any more. I think I have also seen slips sold by Target, at least online and not the shapewear kind, either. I have held onto some slips for decades, despite their length being longer than what I wear currently, as well as a few owned by my late mom. Despite my full thighs, I don't get chub rub due to having bowed legs -- probably their only benefit! But I have a culotte style slip that would prevent that, but I bought it at least 30 years ago.

JAileen, as dryness is often the problem, some simply wet their hands with water and then move them over their slip and their thighs. This might work in hot temperatures--but could be a bad idea in freezing temperatures.

The Natori Half Slip Shorts that nemosmom posted look brilliant. I'd like to get a pair in the nude colour. I had no idea this sort of thing existed.

Ha! i came to post the same slipshorts nemosmom recommends.

You are so good at layering—I’d love to see you apply your creativity here, with a underlayer that could be seen.

Loads of great tips and recommendations here. Static is a huge issue for me in winter, but not summer. And as for “showy” layers, I do have a black lace “underskirt” that I wear for formal!

Those Natori slip options look perfect!

Thanks for the static suggestions. I'll try them all.
