What to wear to lifetime achievement awards at Dolby Theatre

I am going to a Lifetime Achievement Gala at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and have no clue what I should wear.

The event is for a Hollywood film director.

I am a younger looking 50 something year old.

HELP!!!

Hopefully your inviter or someone can clue you in, but if all else fails, I turn to the Source--Google--for photos of previous years' events. That way you may see whether the guests (not the awardees) are doing the whole red carpet look vs. dressy cocktail or whatever. And then it's California and Hollywood to boot so who knows what goes!
