What to wear to AMA's

I need advice on proper attire for the upcoming American Music awards. I'm taking my teenage daughter. We both need to be dressed appropriately. Please help.

Can you "shop your closet" or are you looking for suggestions on new items?

I've never been but I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with a little black dress or any fancy (or semi-fancy) dress or gown you may already own. I'm guessing that since it's the music industry a wide variety of looks will be appropriate.

Can you tell us more? It's in LA, right? Do you know the weather forecast or general weather for that time? Is it a night event? Will you attend any after parties? How do you like to dress and what makes you feel great? The more info we have the better we can help.

The event starts at 3:00 and the forecast for LA is showing mid 70's.I am willing to shop. I'm sure I have a simple black dress, but I wanted to be a bit trendy. I am also taking my teenage daughter. What is appropriate for her? She is petite and can wear anything. We are from the Midwest, and don't visit LA often. We both want to look appropriate. Not over the top or slobs. Any suggestions will help.

Dressy black cropped pants, high vamped black footwear to close the gap of the pants, swanky jacket and clutch.

Probably pop your DD in a mini dress and heels.

You really can't overdress for this kind of event, but unless you're attending an after-party or accompanying a nominee, Angie's suggestion is perfect (of course).
