What to wear, professional conference?

So I found out today that at the end of May my boss is sending me to a professional medical conference. It's going to be mostly geared towards doctors, but I'm going with a coworker. I haven't been to a conference in about five to six years. I think business casual will suffice. IT's only one day, so I really don't want to buy something for it. For bottoms I have the infamous Club Monaco microchecks and Acne skinny khakis. I think I have a black pencil skirt. For blazers I have a black JCrew boyfriend jacket, navy Isabel Marant double breasted with gold buttons. Though the Isabel Marant might be too heavy at the end of May.

This sounds like a bit of a fun opportunity to dress for non-scrubs work! I agree there really is no reason to buy anything; you've already got a great closet. Do the microchecks or skinny khakis work with the black blazer? What have you got for tops? A silk blouse? And you need to make sure you have fantastic footwear -- comfortable but cool-looking. Then you will feel like yourself.

How formal is the conference? I'm not sure what colors are in the microcheck pants, but it it matches the black boyfriend jacket I think those and a nice, conservative button down would be appropriate.

I'm pretty sure your wardrobe is fab enough that we can find something that will work.

Can you post some of the combinations? Business casual sounds right; I never do jeans but do some version of separates--I always wear pants as meeting rooms are usually cold. plus I like pants, and can wear more comfortable shoes, minimizes travel wardrobe; I try to incorporate a flattering jacket--can be more separates, interesting, geared to location & season (e.g. summer CA resort vs downtown Chicago!).

Would your tux jacket or your sharp shouldered blazer be too out there? I could see either of those with the microchecks, and maybe an equipment blouse.
And how about these shoes, if they're comfy?

Keep in mind I'm a scientist and not a doctor though, so I'm allowed to be a) sort of frumpy, or b) sort of eccentric at conferences. =P

Yes I was thinking of those Lanvin loafers. I also have them in burgundy crocodile pattern too. Definitely prefer flats as the conference is in downtown Seattle and I'll be taking the bus there.

I can't remember the microchecks pants tho. What's their style? Harem? Skinny? etc. etc.

I like the sound of the burgundy loafers and microchecks. A blazer will top it off nicely. The Isabel Maant might be okay at the end of May, depending on air conditioning and this wacky weather.

Don't know about your conference but generally doctors seem to often wear suits or jackets at medical conferences. So some type of a blazer sounds right to me.

I've only been to one medical conference (with DH), and the suits were dominant. Nothing very fashion forward, but rather business casual would be a good choice. I believe you have several great pieces already, and you will probably add some flair to the event - they could use that.
