What to Wear OUT - YouLookFab Forum

Next Sat, we are going out socially, for the first time in well over a year. I'm nervous, excited, and a little scared. Mr. CS's friend is playing in a 90's grunge cover band (Soundgarden, I think) at one of my favorite local spots for live music (well, in the Before Times it was). If it wasn't for the connection, we wouldn't be going. I'm not sure that I'm ready mentally to socialize....and I don't think I can take much more of the isolation, so...
I'm already thinking about outfits. It's a good sized local bar (and restaurant). We will probably have dinner before the show, in order to keep a table. This place gets crowded and runs hot, but there is a patio outside to cool off. I've settled on my trusty Power Slim Straight darkwash distressed ON jeans and the new sandal booties...but which top to wear?
1) Blondie tee with metallic accents and men's vest
2) black v neck tank with burnout velvet fringed kimono
3) black cold shoulder top with lace yoke
4) olive green choker neck top
Take into account these are not accesorized and my hair and make up isn't done. I'll carry some type of clutch, most likely.
What's your preference and why?

What a fun event! I am sure you will have a great time.

All the outfits look good, so it is only a matter of personal preference. For me, this is the order: #1 (classic rock outfit), #3 (adding a touch of sexy), #4 (cool top) and #2 (personally I don't care much for kimonos).

All option good. I like black top in #3 the best - nice for the evening with a sexy undertones . Then #1 and any of the rest ( it's a personal preference for graphic tees or anything with print ).

Yay for venturing out! I empathize with your trepidation, but we have ventured out three times in the last week (more than we had the previous 14 months) and each time it has gotten easier. And I actually hugged some friends last night--I almost started crying.

Anyway, I love #2! I like the juxtaposition between the ripped denim and the soft, kind of romantic/interesting kimono, plus I'm really into dark florals these days.

I’m with Jonesy, my favorite is #2 for the same reasons and I’m even not into dark florals It’s also dressy without being too dressy. My second favorite is #1, seems appropriate for the occasion.
We can only dream of going out. Our longest in a world, apparently, lockdown is still on

I like #2 the best because it balances the grunge element with some sophistication. I think #1 would also be excellent with the addition of something a bit posh, like a black blazer or some blingy jewelery. Have fun!!

First of all, SUPER CUTE looks all round!

Second, seen Sound Garden and Chris Cornell in concert three times. LOVE that music. (RIP Chris).

Third, I like #1 best for the event. #2 is a close second.

Fourth, I fully understand the trepidation. We have been fully vaccinated for a month, and are still cautious. Most of Seattle is fully vaccinated, and still wearing masks. We have socialized with other fully vaccinated people twice recently. It felt both very odd, and very normal!!! We all need time to process the changes

I’m not reading the other responses first because I had an initial gut reaction — #1!

I base this on the fact that it’s a rock’n’roll event and celebrating it with a music tee seems ideal to me. I haven’t been to a show since we saw Squeeze in either late Feb or early March last year, and thus is by far the longest I have gone without attending live music since I started going up shows at age 15.

Plus I just really like the vibe with the vest.

My favourite is #4. Simple but interesting.
Next is #1. Rock tee for a music event. I love the vest with it.
#2 and #3 are next.

#2. Why, I like the old to spring of the dark floral and a bit more dressy look of the kimono compared to the other outfits. #1 would be my second pick.

mr.cs bought the tickets and made dinner reservations...then found out his friends bandbacked out due to a scheduling conflict.

Hmm. I think I like the choker neck top for the event... I imagine it being hot (but since we’re still in pandemic mode, maybe not as hot and crowded as I imagine) and not wanting a third piece... and there’s just something vicious, yet alluring, about a choker neck that says rock n’ roll to me...

I like 1 and 2 for different reasons (1 is rock and roll, 2 is a bit more feminine, juxtaposed). They would all work though.
