What to wear for Chinese New Year???

It's my first time starting a conversation but I just want to share this interesting article on Chinese people actually wearing their zodiac's lucky colours to be more lucky??

It seems like an interesting fashion challenge (I'm quite superstitious) and since I'm born in the year of the Snake, I'm gna wear yellow and green at least once a week

I understand from my son's Chinese roommate that one tradition of good luck is, when the year of your sign comes around, to wear red underwear. Throughout the year. I leave it to you to decide how practicable this is.

If you're actually going to a Lunar New Year celebration, I think red is the traditionally lucky attire, while black-and-white outfits are to be avoided.

Well that’s kinda fascinating. Hmm. Maybe I should try and do pink and blue then (rooster). I don’t know that anyone ever told me no black and white. The big dinner my mum puts on has been bumped all the way to next Sunday because of the Super Bowl. Lol

I am Chinese and I have never heard of this.

The only tradition I am aware of is to wear red (underwear, socks, belts etc) during your birth year to fend off bad luck. For example, anyone who was born in the year of rat (2008 for example) need to wear a lot of red this year because it is the year of rat again. My son is a rat so I bought him red underwear to wear under his school uniform.

Well, I am sure. But you don't want to find out by testing it, do you? So I always got red things for my birth years to wear at least during the Chinese New Year period.

You can also opt for accessories in those colors instead. A little more discreet or loud however you want it to be. I used to carry a red packet with money inside, in my purse pocket. It’s more on how to incorporate those color in life in general than just clothing.

Sisi and others, of course it doesn't work. It is just superstition and really not worth believing in. Sadly, millions of people even in our days are slaves of superstition. And lots of people are making big money of others' insecurities, fears or naivety.

Wear colours that look good on you and make you feel happy, no matter which year or month.
