What to Wear for a 2nd year olds birthday party.

Hey guys! I need some help. My daughters birthday is coming up and she will be 2. I just don't know what to wear. Last year I looked really lame, was not impressed with my own body. But now I am feeling good and want to look nice. We are having her birthday party at our house. It will be outside. I live in a small town in Mn. Currently there is snow on the ground and more to come. So I have no idea what it will be like the first week of June. That is when she is having her birthday. I have a very short torso and long legs. If you have any suggestions, I am super lame when comes to shopping so pic and websites or suggestions all welcomed.

You could get a jean jacket almost anywhere right now from Old Navy, JCPenney to Nordstrom.

I personally love the dresses at Boden. But I will bet the Loft has some great ones right now.

Usually Angie's outfit suggestions are from all sorts of places, so the pieces probably aren't even available.

Do you think it would be good to plan an outfit that you can run in and get on the ground with? I remember 2-yr-old birthdays being very active! Like herding cats!

Check out Old Navy and Gap for cropped denim jackets. A short sleeve denim jacket is harder to come by. You could also substitute a denim vest.

Be sure to wear something washable and that doesn't stain easily. A bright busy print would be perfect. Will there be other preschoolers there?
Helpful hint: schedule the sweets at the end just before they go home. Little ones can lose all control quickly when birthday excitement is combined with a sugar high.

So, toddler wrangling is definately on the agenda. A denim jacket is ideal as it will help add warmth if you need it. Not sure where the dress came from.

I would wear almost that exact same combo for more dressed-up toddler-wrangling (and have, see pic!)

Jean jacket was this one from Nordstrom's (here)
Shoes were Naturalizers (these- the strap in the back is crucial for moving quickly!)
Dress was Target maternity, LOL.

Now is a good time to be shopping for a summer dress- I've seen lots in stores lately!

Also, I tend to dress by the rule of "by myself" or "I've got help" when out with a speedy toddler. If I know I'm on my own, then I wear flats/flat sandals and either pants or a long maxi-style skirt that I can crouch down in without overexposure. If my husband is coming along, I can wear slightly less sensible shoes (although I never wear anything really precarious, honestly) and a shorter skirt because I know he'll be keeping an eye on her and can run after her if she takes off. So - how much help do you think you'll have at this party?

I also regularly pick dresses that are a bit longer than fashionable and go past the knee (not hard for me since I'm quite short) so that I can crouch easily, regardless of whether I 'm alone or I've got help.

The dress you proposed is great. But i don't thick the jean jacket is a good match.Just personal opionion.

Hi Annie, hey I'm in MN, too. How many inches did you get last night?!

I can't believe it. Anyway, do you like BF jeans? What about an outfit with BF jeans, straight-leg jeans, slouchy chinos, or cargo pants with "sassy sneaker" like cons or Josef Seibels, or some comfie flats that would be easy to run around in? You could wear either a button-down shirt with cool belt or a sweater or a tee with a jacket (blazer, denim, bomber) depending on the weather. I'm not sure if this suits your style or not. It's pretty casual.
