What to wear dilema...

Going to an art show tonight... I would normally not even hesitate and put together a nice dress and heels outfit... don't know what to do after my friend informed me she was going in jeans and a t-shirt cause that's her comfort zone and the best she can do is to not have writing on her shirt....I feel like she broougt this to me cause she knows my nature and just wanted me to know she was not going to dress up...She is my oldest friend, since I was in my early 20's...

What is a happy medium where I can go to such an event with two friends who will most likely being wearing jeans? My first instinct is to grab my trouser jeans , a sweater and booties... Does this sound like a good idea?

Or you could do jeans and a blazer. You have lots of nice blazers. Maybe a more faded jean to keep it more casual.

I'd maybe make the dress and heels casual, unless you're all ok being matching.

I'd wear what I wanted to wear (dress and heels) since I rarely get the chance to dress up.

They are your oldest friends, you know they know you. They won't be surprised by your outfit, and they shouldn't feel under dressed since they are dressing in their comfort zone and you in yours. That's the cool thing about old friends!

And if anything's said, use my sister's line..."Oh, you know me...overdressed for everything!" Then laugh and change the conversation to the show you are about to see...

This friend has weight issues and suffers from low self esteem. I have had to back away from the friendship because my joy and self confidence make her feel bad and she gets passive aggressive. I have tried building her up and loving her, but can't allow the PA behavior in my life. I only go out with her now as a threesome and the other friend is in her 60's and is my boho artist friend I adore and don't see enough of. Definitely going to arrange a lunch for just the two of us...
Tried on trouser jeans with sweater and pink ponte knit jacket with leopard pumps. Think it's a good compromise. I get to dress up with events with DH, so won't feel like I missed a shot to do so.

too funny, my boys are saying, " Mom you don't have a bum capsule" fhat was the 17yr old... The 13 year old said, "Even you sleeping clothes aren'[t bummy..."

All I heard is, " I have succeeded in going from the mother who got lost and wasn't caring for herself, to treating myself well and taking great care of myself." They are joking me that this is my mid-life crisis and if this is it, I am rejoicing and thrilled!

Too funny. ..night went great. ..she wore. A blouse instead of a t-shirt. And pointed it out immediately when she picked me up. No PA behavior , wonder if other friend called her on it after our last outing? A great girl's night , hope we do it again soon.
