I love your way of putting this. And everything is in the past tense: "wanted to love". Because we all have those in our closets, we won't admit they could be orphans or, worse, mistakes, because of so many reasons: who we bought them with, the price we paid, what we associate with it...
In my case, I have two (well, three technically) right now causing me grief:
1- Silk/cotton mauve print sequin adorned twin-set from Leo Guy.
It's cute, and fits me perfectly, but I think I have finally learned that the French annoying habit of designing low round necklines doesn't do much for petite, broad shoulder me. Then the print: it's one of those vaguely-distorted-leopard, that we ended up seeing everywhere, especially on older women types, sorry,(I myself could be called an "older woman") but you know, someone who wears it with uninteresting brown or black polyester pants... the king of outfit that screams: "I'm hiding! Don't look at me!" Anyway. I am still in the process of trying out everything I own with this super comfortable thin twin set because I can't believe I can't make it work... I think I will come to my senses eventually and give it away to a petite with smaller shoulders.
2- Stretch turquoise/black leopard asymmetrical top from Maricano, and same material sleeveless leotard.
Leopard print, again! That should tell me something... the thing is that print is very elegant, it's my colour, they both flatter my broad shoulders... but the asymmetrical top is too uncomfortable and too sexy for my everyday life; the sleeveless leotard is "in your face" and not adapted to my climate. I guess I am not the "sexy" vamp from Florida type who needs to wear this. And then for a night out I have so many more appealing options. Sigh. Anyway, got it on sale.
