I think you were on the right track with a denim jacket, but agree that perhaps one that is cropped short might be a lot more flattering?

I know you said a sweater doesn't look good, but I think a chunky knit cardigan paired with this dress would give a super cozy look

I would probably wear something under it....

I am into bodysuits ( throwback to the 1980s) , tank style on top. They provide smoothing underneath, warmth and a bit of coverage around the arm if it is gapey. But that would not be super warm. I quite like the bare arms though with the volume.

Or maybe a long vest....

Deborah wears this type of dress well....maybe check out her WIW.

Cool dress. I think it will look great on you. I am going to echo Kiwigal and say I would wear something under the dress. A body suit or long tank top would be great.

Sally - I will most definitely be wearing a tank of some kind underneath - it's way too bra exposing otherwise. It will be worn sleeveless for sure, but I still need a jacket on hand for air-conditioned cars, offices, to and from restaurants, etc etc. I really am hoping Deborah weighs in too!

Ledonna - yes ma'am - a bolero might work although it's not something I've ever worn.... As would a super cropped denim jacket ....thanks Twinkling. ( I'm not looking for coziness, just coverage).

Angie had a great blog post last year about what kinds of topper to wear with sleeveless dresses. Answer: none, if you can help it. But if you must...

I say snap a photo. It's going to be a question of proportion combined with what is right for the environments you'll be wearing it in. Also --- maybe go back to the Urban Outfitters site and see if it is styled any other ways there. They might have something for you...

I am wearing one today in my WIW - it's a knit blazer that doesn't cling but it still a little fitted. I can also see a little cropped slouchy cardi a la Free People.

That is a great dress, i may be a lemming with that one... i would try light weight linen ish, maybe mid thigh, flowy , try the cocoon shape. We know cropped will work but I think longer would work too.

Two thoughts, kinda opposite:
Cropped denim jacket - if yours is meant to wear w/pants it's prob too long.

Or, a long vest.

I would say a black or white tank under, and maybe a black leather jacket over only if it's cold.

I've seen some cool tube tops that would work as a bra and top under that dress...way cool style, and if you had cool tattoo's like the model does...WOW
