What stylish, comfortable flats are you wearing these days?

My stylish comfortable flats are still boots. A pair of Clarks Indigo Petite Syrah. Not sure if I spelled that right. Also my Frye Campus knockoffs from HH Brown

I can't post links (none available) or photos (camera not working) but I have 3 identical pairs of plain, very comfortable ballet flats in black, taupe and dark blue. I wear them a lot, I even fell asleep in them once. They have a very Audrey look to them, and are pretty basic. The trick with ballet flats, I find, is to get ones with a cushioned insole, so it still looks like a flat but you actually have about an inch above the ground on your heel. I have some funkier ballet flats too: a teal embellished one and a metallic one with an ankle strap. I love flats!!!

I LOVE Privos by Clarks (photo 1) - I have these in red, dark brown and silver metallic.
and Palladium (photo 2) - I have these in gray suede, teal suede and taupe reptile.

Some of the Aerosoles flats are cute too.

I have brown woven leather peep toe flats, black ballet flats, silver metallic flats, plum satin ballet flats with patent black on the toe, black peep toe kitten heels with a black buckle, madras plaid flats (very preppy and cute) and a few wedges. I have black flip flops, too, but don't wear them much.

Julie -- I'm with you in spirit, but in my non-air-conditioned schools, the temperature and humidity in my offices will soon make boots unthinkable.

rosee and Barbara -- I think I'm after something a little more dressy for my professional wardrobe. Would love those Privos with jeans, though.

shabbychick -- "plum satin ballet flats" sound absolutely gorgeous!

Louise -- if you find ultra-comfortable ballet flats, please let us know. I'm still wearing my Me Too Swanns (YLF favorite from a couple of years ago) but doubt they'll survive the season.

My non sandal alternative are ballet flats. I also wear slides/mules and slingbacks, but they are 2 1/2" or so. Other than that, I'm in sneakers for work or working out

My non-sandal summer options are these:

1) Black, pointy-toe wedge flats (similar to these)

I like them, because they are a bit more dressy.

2) Two pairs of peep-toe low wedges (gold and turquoise) - similar to these:

3) Casual, red, ballet flats.

Others are either too high or too sandal-y.

I just got a pair of Bloch ballet flats (which Maya sang the praises of) and they really are unbelievable. Buttery soft leather, insane heel cushioning, and a lining that feels like velvet. I can't wear shoes with an elasticated topline, but Bloch has a couple of plain ballet flats (mine are the Fonteyn).

My favourites through all the past seasons are still the Me Too Garnet and Marco flats. I can't find a link to the Marco flats but they are the very same pair Michelle has sans the wedge heel - black with two layers of ruffles on the toes with tiny studs on the ruffles. The Me Toos are tough, durable and the most comfortable pair of shoes I own! Oh also the Clarks Lyons glads in pewter are still very close contenders. My more recent flats purchase have been two-tone brogue and plain black oxfords but they aren't the most comfortable of the lot though they are definitely more stylish !

I'm afraid the only "flats" I wear right now are Skechers sneakers. I like them but that's probably not what you had in mind! Ha!
I did wear these yesterday that I got at Target nearly 2 years ago and haven't really worn. I liked how they looked though so I will keep my eye out for others. These do not offer much protection b/w me and the ground. Maybe that's how flats are expected to be.

Bella -- remind me how fussy your feet are? These are so pretty, but I have started staying away from inexpensive shoes lately, as my feet have become more problematic. I thought you had some fussy issues too, though, so that gives me hope!

Lisa -- Doh! I was hoping those purple Cole Haans might show up at our swap...

Dashrashi -- I worry that the Blochs might not work with my somewhat classic style -- seems like they need some edginess to counteract their plainness? If I could wear jeans to work, no problem, but I can't.

Vani -- yes, my Me Too flats have been total workhorses. I'll check out the ones you mentioned.

JG -- you're right about the Skechers.

Anne -- AHA! These might work very well. (Quick -- is there a limit to how many pairs of flower-toed shoes a person should own? I hope not.)

April - here is a photo of them. I bought them in October last year (just looked at the receipt!), but never quite got round to wearing them as I was able to wear heels for most of my pregnancy and by the time my feet swelled I was in hospital and living in slippers!

I have had them on my feet since I last posted and they are very comfy.

I am also contemplating a pair of boat shoes. Perhaps one of these pairs:

I have tried these in the dark brown (not currently available at Zappos) but are for sale elsewhere, and while I really liked them, they stretched out SO far (within a day or two) I definitely shouldve sized down! @londonkiwi (Fi), my 3 flats are very similar to your red ones -- minus the bow.

April, don't knock ballet flats out of range just yet, they actually do work with professional and corporate clothing. The thing is to pick a dressier style with a more "feminine" rather than chunky look to them. Comfortable versions are there for the finding.

This is probably an insane level of nitpicking, but I went especially crazy for the Bloch Fonteyns primarily because they were a plain black ballet flat but with a tan sole, which for some reason I just find ineffably French and chic and therefore elevating to any outfit.

For my everyday shoes, I tend to also wear a pair of cognac brown woven Banana Republic flats, a black patent pair of Me Too Nobles, and a super unstructured pair of Gap black ballet flats. I also have a couple of pairs of distressed gold/burgundy patent/pewter/studded black leather flats, but they don't get as much wear (mostly because they're less comfortable, but this is probably because I haven't broken them in...vicious cycle).

I also tried on the Indigo Bishop:

in pewter earlier this year. They were very comfy but I needed the larger of the two sizes I varied between, and I really was looking for a low wedge, and this was more of a flat.

Most of mine are from previous seasons, but the newest pair of flats (1/2" wedges, technically) that are shockingly comfortable are my Target Merona cutout flats in red. I have never had good luck with Target shoes, especially the flats, so these are a small miracle for me. I sized up a half-size to 9.5, and haven't regretted it. The red is great, but I contemplated getting them in one of the metallics or yellow too.

No one's mentioned AGL flats? Outrageously expensive even when on sale, but oh my, how dreamy on the feet. Can't find a picture of the pair I have, but AGLs usually have some little detail to make them (to my eye) interesting and not so plain Jane. April - my feet are not too fussy and I don't mind sacrificing a bit of comfort for the cute factor. I don't really know how comfy any of these shoes are but I like pointy toed flats more than round ones (I am team pointy toe!) They look more dressy to me.

Kristen, I love those cutout flats - are they available in-store or just online?

Most of my flats are thrifted or a year or two old - every so often I go to DSW and trawl for good shoes. Born/BOC, Kenzie Girl, Steve Madden, Clarks, Naturalizer, are all lines I've had good success with.

I've found them to be very comfortable, but I've never had "fussy feet" so your mileage may vary :-). The cutouts in the daisy pattern might make them less of a good choice in wetter climates...
