What should I wear to see a new stylist?

I'm getting my hair done on Wednesday. I'm getting balayage at a new to me salon and hair stylist. It'll be after work.
Also my hair is at least two to three inches past my clavicles. I'm wondering if I should hack it to clavicle length or try and grow it even longer.

I vote to cut it clavicle length. It will add bounce and still be long enough to wear many ways.

I agree with Joy. Shoulder length, or a little longer will get rid of old ends, and still give you lots of hairstyling options.

As far as what to wear...I would suggest whatever outfit combination you feel is your signature style! What is your 'go to' outfit, the one that makes you feel most that 'this is the real Anna'.

Wear something that highlights your natural skin tone (pastel or off white maybe?) so they can choose the hair colour appropriately. You seem to have a lot of volume in your hair - going longer would work well. You have really lovely hair to begin with. Plus longer hair will show your colour gradation better. Have you ever tried ombre hair?

Would that matter, at all? My stylist sees my clothes for about 3 seconds before I get covered by the "tarps" and have to change my top.
I think they look at your coloring, not your clothing, unless you want to get something to compliment your style. I would say bring as many pictures of hair styles as you can. Also make sure that you have a long enough consultation. Why not bring a sample of your WIWs instead?
I find clavicle length to be the most problematic. It interferes with collars a lot. I vote above clavicle, or let it grow out.

I think you need to wear something that reflects your style. I know round where I live its very trendy and if I have gone looking very mumsy they have given me a very conservatiive hairdo. [ which makes me unhappy] So now I always make sure my outfits are the right level of eccentric.

You mention the appointment is after work. Does that mean you will have to change out of scrubs at work? And lug your afterwork outfit to work with you? Will that be problematic?
Just clarifying here, not offering any solutions.
As for WTW, I think that if this stylist is going to be a "keeper" s/he will need qualities that you admire.
So, it's more about how they perform than about how you come across.
That said, how about wearing that crazy Sass and Bide harness that blew me away when I first saw it a year or so ago?

I didnt know you had Sass and Bide harness Annagybe! can you post yourself in it? I love all their stuff. I go to the shop here in Sydney and eyeball eveything.

I vote grow it out - loft the softer look on you...and wear some awesome shoes (do you have any other kind?). The rest of your outfit will be covered up in a smock in short order. Pick your favorite or signature colors, though, for the heck of it.

I have to disagree with Zap a bit here -- my stylist definitely notices what I wear! I think a good stylist would pay close attention because our clothing style gives a huge cue to how adventurous (or not) we are with our style.

I always try to wear something at least somewhat stylish when I go to the salon, even if it's just cool shoes. I think you've got that well covered, Anna. Just wear a "you" outfit!

Oh, and I avoid wearing nice white collared shirts -- I got a spot of hair color on a collar once and learned my lesson.

I say wear an outfit that expresses your aspirational style. The stylists I go to - and I look for them, honestly - look at hair in terms of fitting in with the whole package.

I am also going to vote for going longer because I see that fitting nicely in with the direction you're going in.

I think Angie is on to something. What is your go-to outfit that makes you extra happy? That works really well because it will surely give the stylist an impression of how on-trend you are, but also where the center of that is, rather than the extremes, if that makes sense.
