What should I request...

My MIL is flying to the UK next weekend and then her and my SIL are flying to NYC and doing a USA road trip. Of course I am insanely jealous!

My wish list so far for things I would love the MIL to bring back...

A pair of docs from the UK
A pair of Fluevogs
A tin of Mariebelle Hot Chocolate (OK - I may actually be lucky enough to get this)

I somehow don't think the boots will happen... but a girl can dream. While I am at it... give me your suggestions both fun and serious!

Ooh I can see you in some Docs with the skirt you had on yesterday. In UK what about some Kendal mint Cake! I've heard that travellers should always have some to hand

Aim high I say Hil! I agree with Diane that the docs would work well with yesterdays outfit and in general I think you would get good use out of a pair.

Wow, those are nice vacations planned there! Both the UK and NYC are expensive places to go to, and Docs and fluevogs are pricey. The practical side of me would just ask for tiny mementos, perhaps some fancy tea from the UK and a cute souvenir from NYC.

In an imaginary world when money is not an issue? Umm... A shopping spree from boots drugstore in the UK and a piece of Jewelry from Tiffany's in NYC.

Ditto to the vogs and the docs, I see both working well with your style.

I tried so hard to get to the Fluevog store when I was in Chicago, but to no avail. Very sad.

I'll have to give a clothing, food, or other wishlist some thought.

However, if we were talking nail polish, I would have a list!!! There are at least a couple of brands I'm interested in that are hard to get in the U.S. One does amazing multichromatic color shift polishes, and another does linear holographic polishes in many colors including brights and darks. There are a few other hard to find brands that I would have to look up that do beautiful polish as well. In order to have them, I would have to pay a lot for shipping. Or, in one case at least, risk a purchase from a single vendor who isn't known for packing their shipments well, so breakage is a high possibility.

I personally would like some Argyll rubber boots which they don't seem to ship outside of the UK. Phooey.

To be honest, I can't think of much else that can only be gotten in the UK or US. Gosh, I can even get my fave snacky here in the US: McVities and Chesire cheese.

The world is flat now. You can get anything if you are willing to pay shipping.

But, for me, i would ask for potions and lotions. Filorga time erase, eucerin hyaluron-filler, anything by nuxe.

You can purchase Docs in SA! And almost everything else through, Amazon - no? That's a far safer route for shoes, don't you think?

South Africa makes the BEST Cadburys chocolate so no need to stock up on UK Cadburys.

Shoes are tough -- particularly if you don't know how the last fits your foot. And Vogs are notoriously bizarre in their sizing. While Docs are quite wide.

I would ask for something that doesn't have to be fitted -- a bag, or a great scarf, or a cuff bracelet or other item of jewellery. So exciting!

Whilst I would love to get a pair of Fluevogs, I don't think asking the MIL to buy a pair and bring them home is viable. I will have to wait till we take a trip!

Angie - I can't find fun DM's anywhere here. I can get some plainer ones at the Oriental Plaza though. And you are so right - our Cadbury's is THE BEST!

Out of interest, at one stage I heard that Amazon wouldn't ship to SA because of the high theft rate of packages, not sure if that is still the case?

Bags or jewelry and lotions and potions are a great idea!
