What shoes to wear with cropped khaki pants....

Hello peeps
This is the first time I've posted a cry for help!

I've bought some pants v similar to the ones in this photo of SJP/Gwyneth Paltrow (the ones they are wearing are Current/Elliott). Anyway - I can't figure out what shoes to wear with them that look good. I'd like to wear these pants in a more casual way, ie not with heels. The only thing I can come up with is ....a pair of ballet flats or flat sandals (gladitor-ish) both in silver? What do you reckon

can you post some pics with some of your shoe options, Kirstie? MaryK, Aida, and Heather (hhaber), have all posted similar pants recently, but all with heels.....

I am working out how to wear some new cropped khakis. The shoes I had in mind when I bought them were my nude flat gladiators, flat silver ankh sandals, nude & cork sneakers or bright green patent wedge espedrilles, plus a pair of nude wedge sandals I'm thinking of buying. But I will literally try them all together & take pictures before I leave the house. Sometimes things just don't come together IRL the way I have imagined in my mind's eye. So much depends on the cut of the pants, where the shoes cut across the feet, overall body type, etc. The silver sandals and cropped pants sound like a nice pairing. Good luck! L

What length are yours? I think that's going to play into what kind of shoes you can wear with them. Gladiators and cropped pants may be a leg shortening look, I would be careful with that combination. I would probably wear them with ballet flats or wedge platforms.

Yes, look at the pictures... These are two especially slim women by even Hollywood standards and they have both chosen the lift of a heel. Here I might just say follow their lead and start with the lift of something like the wedge in the first shot. Thanks for posting those! L

Oohh, MaryK, you are on to something! That's what my new crops are doing. It is driving me bonkers! I was going to try granny panties with the little girdle panels because I thought it was my mummy-tummy driving down the rise and making them bunch up there... But now I'm not so sure. Maybe they are just an unfortunate cut.

So sorry for commandeering your thread. Me and my misbehaving pants will bow out... L

Okay *warning: bluntness ahead* I've been struggling with my very real desire to wear this style despite being short and heel-aversive. But that picture of Gwyneth is making me reconsider - she looks like a hobbit, and I don't know what that would make ME if I wore something similar!

How averse are you to wedges? The best non-heel I can think of is some kind of wedge with a color similar to the color of the pants. Sorry, but I really don't see this working out with a flat shoe.

As for what to wear with crops, big ol' platforms! Personally, I will not even attempt until I loose 5lb. That and some of my huge platform heels may help me pull them off. (I'm short, and feel like being slimmer will help give me the illusion of greater height.)

High heels :\ If you don't like pumps, then wedges would work but I 100% agree that cropped pants look best with heels.

I had to laugh over the 'leg shortening'
I have been called a 'shetland' in the past (I am 165cm!) so who needs shorter looking legs than they already have huh. I agree with you all - wedges it is!

I actually came up with this too (after going through every shoe I own teamed with the pants). I am just in a lazy no heel kinda of a mood lately. Even wedges seem too hard! But they do look good....

I prefer a wedge to a real heel these days.

Heels or wedges, but heels are better to elongate the leg!
