What sandals are you wearing?

I'd love to see what folks are snapping up for sandals this year.

I will be refreshing my sandals this summer. And no, it won't be summer by me for another 4-6 weeks.

I developed plantar fasciitis from walking too much on hard cement. Apparently, even good shoes can't save you! So, if you know of any cute, dressier sandals sandals that are kind to feet, I am especially interested in those!

I never wear sandals, only closed toe. Last year my favorite summer shoes were perforated flats or D'Orsay style flats. This year I am adding some mules for the openness but closed toe, possibly some open heel with straps. I have found that the best way of saving your feet with even comfortable shoes is to not wear the same ones two days in a row. At over 70, I have no bunions, corns, or foot problems. I also do not wear heels over 1.5 inches, but try to vary height with small wedges or kitten heels.

Do you have a shoe store something like Foot Solutions where you live? They deal with feet with special requirements. I know three friend with the same condition as you have found them extremely helpful.

Summer's past here, but this is what I wore. I particuarly liked the Naturalizers. Very comfortable for a heeled sandal. I only wore them for work and other occasions with no walking though.

The Zazous are very comfy too (for both, I went for soft leather) but I didn't find the sole very absorbent- they didn't stand up to a trek around the supermarket. (not a big deal - Supermarkets are cold enough to make a changed to a closed toe shoe with a better sole ok)

I also need a new pair of sandals, the only sandals I have right now are black
Birkenstock Rio. Which are fine and I will keep on wearing them, bit a dressier alternative might be nice to have. So far I haven't been successfull. I guess with the new summer shoes I have I could make do with only the Rios, if necessary.

I also updated my sandal capsule for this summer, aiming at comfort. I like heels and had a lot of high heeled sandals, but did not feel well wearing them.

Now my sandal capsule contains :
- Two pairs of dressy block-heeled sandals - both very comfy despite the heel height (8cm/3in). I've never been disappointed with Geox when looking for comfy but dressy heels.
- One pair of everyday wedges from german comfort brand Gabor (they feel like little clouds!). I'm comtemplating a similar pair from the same brand, in a different color.
- Two pairs of flats.
- Two pairs of high wedges for fun - comfortable enough to attend an evening garden party, but definitely not for a whole day.

I feel your pain! I had plantar fascitis years ago, thought I was done with it, and it came back last week. Switching shoes every day helps, so your foot gets to exercise in varying heel heights. Wearing support around the house is crucial too—I have a birkenstock-style sandal for summer and Haflinger's (the kind with the cork bottom) for winter. It's totally lame but I have to start following my own advice and save fun (zero support) flat shoes for when I'm just arriving someplace and sitting around (ie, like driving to brunch or a party) and wear supportive shoes for any real walking! I've been saying thank goodness the fashion sneaker trend is a thing! Ironically, people report that wearing heels helps, but I'm not much of a heels wearer, so I can't comment on that part.

I just started wear Crocs (I know, super ugly, but the doctor recommended them) around the house instead of slippers. It's helped A LOT!

I also bought special walking shoes instead of my New Balance. New Balance works for some, but the Brooks the doctor recommended are fabulous!

I don't walk much at work. My Fitbit fusses at me for it I also don;t ever wear over 1.5 inch heel. My feet thank me and so does my back.

I wish I had the wisdom of where I am now with the body I had at 20.

Recommending BZEES brand. I got a pair last summer (also have PF) and they are the only sandals that work for me. They are not so dressy but I got them in plain black and they are fine for my needs. (Delurked has the flowered ones above in the same style). There's something about the foot bed that works well for PF.

Thistle - a couple years ago my foot pain also compelled me to wear crocs around the house. I pretty much ceased heels too, though I’ve got a couple old born wedge sandals that may be a smidge higher. They don’t get too much air time. The combo of wearing something around the house and the no heels has been very helpful. What brooks did the dr recommend? I’m considering trying a pair I could only graciously call orthopedic. Hope you are finding some relief.

Thistle, a good friend was wearing crocs inside when she slipped on some spilled water from her dog’s bowl, and wrecked her knee. She had to have surgery, and couldn’t bend her knee for eight weeks, and was on crutches for a long while. Since then, I don’t wear my crocs inside for anything, since I have two dogs. So please be careful with them.

I had PF and the podiatrist gave me hard plastic inserts. It’s been nearly twenty years, but I still use them with all of my lace up shoes.

I think all of my sandals are casual. The ones that would probably be good for PF are the Dansko sandal clogs. I love wearing them. They feel so good. I also have Naots, that Delurked pictured above. They feel really good too.

They are fabulous! Oh, and ugly, but my feet feel so much better! Between these and the Crocs, I have almost no pain during the day and can wear my normal shoes. So worth it to look awful on my walks.

I gave up heels years ago as they hurt my back and feet, so when I say my normal shoes, I'm talking comfort brands like Munro, Mephesto, Clarks, etc. with no more than a 1.5 inch heel.

Jorja - I went to Stan's, but they weren't super helpful. Perhaps I will have to try back and get a different sales associate. My experience there has varied wildly based on who has helped me.

I added closed-toe shoes this year, but last year was a sandal year for me -- 1 slide, 1 back-strap, 1 with a bit of a heel. I'm still enjoying the fun sporty look of white soles. If I add another pair it will be a simple flat style like this: https://duckfeetusa.com/collec.....6885762369

I also need to replace my Chacos (sport sandals for paddling, beach, etc). I want something lighter weight and more flexible than Chacos, but I don't like the fit of Tevas or Keens, so I'll have to go do some try-ons at some point.

I have arthritis in my big toe joints which I believe pose much of the same problem as PF. Wearing Birkenstock in the house (and any other time) has been a huge help. I also have a pair of Dansko sandals that have been going strong for 5+ years. Dansko's never seem to wear out.

Oh lots, and I prefer metallic ones. I have fussy, flat feet. I have 3 pairs of Birkenstocks (only the coolest ones shown below). I've also ordered the Earth wedges suggested by Angie.I got JAileen's Danskos in black, which are comfortable from a foot pain point of view but are still rubbing too much against my feet. I need to build up my summer callouses.

I own the Ecco Damara sandals that Christina posted and love them. they really molded to my feet and the velcro fastening is easy and comfortable (I don't like buckles on my shoe straps).

Sorry you didn’t get much help at Stan’s. I don’t know which one you were at but I go to the Stan’s in Glendale. If you do go there ask for Keith or Tory. I find them very helpful compared to my own experience at the Brookfield store.
