What makes this blouse $300?

I'm curious because I really like the color, print and style, but...it is $300 at the sale price and $448 after the sale. What details can possibly make a polyester blouse cost that much? So it's from a pricey brand/designer, but still. I'd understand more if it was a tailored jacket or dress, but what about a blouse justifies that price?

Has anyone seen this? Any insights? Is there something about it that makes it worth that?

Peri - Honestly I have no idea. It’s polyester! It’s a very pretty blouse and lovely color and pattern. For that money it should be silk. I’m a huge VB fan but I only own their blazers and a few pairs of matching pants. Generally workmanship is excellent, fabrics, buttons, tailoring with the sale/final sale price. Other than the scuba jacket I’ve never paid full price. But that blouse it’s really hard to justify that price even on sale. I hope it drops and you can get it reasonably. Super nice but yeah, not worthy of its price in that fabrication imho. Sad. Lovely

I agree with you, the print is nice but for the price it should be a silk blouse.

It's a mystery to me, Peri. Expensive blouse at the NAS price too - for polyester that you have to dry clean. It's a very pretty blouse - I've seen it! But overpriced in un-compelling fabric. It's banking on the status of the VB brand to elevate it. Like you, I'm not convinced

Prices are going up. I can see it happening across non-sale brands already. Whatever you can get at a good price that's awesome for your style - good idea to get it!

Even more hilariously , its after-sale price in Cdn $ is $630 . That is the most outrageous price for a very basic looking blouse . Craziness .

I’ve seen that blouse and it is lovely. I even considered it but like yourself I was puzzled by the price. I’m not sure what beyond the label makes it so expensive.

After Sale: CAD $631.52

Honestly, there is no blouse that is worth that kind of money to me. Then again, someone paid $13 million CAD (approximately) for Jane Birkin's bag last week....so I guess it takes all kinds!

Well, the Birkin bag is the first, original Birkin, Jane’s own bag. So, one of the kind, a piece of history.

A polyester blouse is a polyester blouse, don’t see much to it under any brand name.

If Angie hadn’t said she had seen it, I was going to suggest that they had accidentally listed the fabric as poly, but it was silk. Because they have the same silhouette blouse (different pattern) on the Veronica Beard site.

Nodding along with a lot of the responses here. I'll add: I'm guessing they made it out of polyester specifically to offer for NAS, too. I've noticed lesser quality construction or materials on NAS offerings by manufacturers I know. The AGL ballet flats are an example that stands out in my mind. Materials and even the sizing ran differently on the NAS versions.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was a bit crazy. It caught my eye but at that price the temptation went away quickly!

Firecracker, interesting about NAS offerings being lower quality. I didn't know that, but it's done for outlet stores so it might very well be done for NAS on some things. I will never forget the sweaters I returned last year because they smelled so bad. Those were definitely made cheaply.

Ha, I did the same as Sal and immediately checked the NZ price! (which shows for us on the Nordstrom site). It’s even worse than the Canadian price! Our dollar is not worth much. I also think it’s poor quality to finish blouses with just some elastic in the sleeve. I refuse to buy them.

I haven’t looked closely at the VB jacket I ordered, so I cannot speak to its quality. I’m waiting for the rest of my NAS orders to arrive before trying things on.

Sharan, that’s interesting. I noticed there was no Pendleton in the sale as there had been in the past. Several years ago I bought a Pendleton plaid coat in NAS that wasn’t all wool. Wool is what they’re known for! I liked the fit of the coat but the colors were hard for me (black and royal blue) so I rarely wore it. I’ve have since donated it.
