I was in court today when a jury delivered its verdict. The procedure in my state is for the foreperson to hand the verdict form (sealed in an envelope) to the bailiff, who hands it to the judge, who opens it, reads it silently, and then hands it to the clerk to read aloud. Verra verra serious and dramatic.
This morning, when the judge asked, "who is the foreperson," Juror Number 8 jumped up and exclaimed "Not Guilty, Your Honor!"
SO FUNNY! I've never seen such a surprised courtroom full of people in my whole life! I'm still giggling.
What's making you all laugh today?
