What looks current in women's watches?

One of my first post-YLF wardrobe purchases was a "boyfriend watch." I've now worn it daily for years and years (and years) and feel that the style is looking a little dated.

So, what's current in ladies' watches?

All I see on men's and women's wrists are Smart Watches (either Fitbit or Apple).

It is definitely sports oriented. I get that. Unfortunately, I have no idea what women are wearing for watches these days. I'll watch with interest to see what you decide on.

I can’t say I follow watch trends, but there seemed to be a lot of rose gold in the watches at the 2018 Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale. It seems like watch trends evolve pretty slowly. I’ll be watching this thread with interest because I’ve been poking around for a new watch.

Interested also. I wear s watch and intend to keep on! But have been wearing the same mixed- metal + black Seiko for years.
I still would gravitate to mixed metals— (my wedding and engagement rings are gold, but I mostly to wear silver accessories) but would consider an update. I think a slightly large watch face looks better than dainty ( unless I were wearing a “ dressy/ jewelry “ watch) even though my wrist is very narrow, and also I can read it better !

But also I consider watches to be very personal, and typically expensive for good quality, so it’s not something that I’d just chase trends on.

It seems like all I see in the store are big watches. I primarily wear my Skagen, but I still occasionally wear my older, smaller Seiko. And we just found an old watch of my deceased FIL's, which I am looking forward to wearing.

I'm interested in a new watch too - when I get settled after moving in a few weeks. My older BF style , clunky and loose watches feel tired and dated . I'm still hanging on to my larger Daniel Wellington classic watch (and a few others I don't wear but are still good) , but am embarrassed to wear my old bracelet Coach oversized-face loose fit watch now. Over it. I'd love to have an Apple watch for work, but still would like a new gold classic looking watch for everyday and dressier occasions . I'll know what I want the minute I see it I love a clean and classic, crisp look. No more bells and whistles and doodads on my watches

My watch is a classic Rado--black rectangular face, gold frame, numbers, & band. I've had it since I was 16. Like others here, I don't think of watches as style things to switch around.

I got a new watch this past fall. Size-wise it’s halfway between my 20 year old Seiko and my big Timex. It’s two toned and solar powered. I don’t know if it’s trendy or not.

I am seeing tons of floral watches. I fact I just bought one from Olivia Burton .It is not something I will wear for years to come, but it is whimsical and it makes me smile. On my phone so can't do links or finds.

I have a rose gold Skagen which I love - it's probably about a year old. It's not a BF watch, but not tiny either. I'm going to get a silver watch for my birthday, so I too am on the lookout...
I've seen some cool deep cobalt blue watches about which I kinda like.

I'm very fond of watches and have a wardrobe of them. What looks most attractive to my eye these days is a rectangular or square face that is fairly thin. Almost a 40s menswear look. There is a lot of rose gold out there, much nicer than in previous years. I think the rose gold bezel is very pretty with a navy or dark green leather band, too. I have a sweet spot in size, 30 to 34mm. Brands I like are Nixon, Rosefield, and Breda, plus the classic Fossil, Tissot, and Skagen. But i already have four Skagens. The Fossil Idealist line is a handsome combo of square and round in the same face.
And I just discovered Shore Projects, which have elegant flat minute and hour hands.

I spend a long time considering the style, and then watch for a sale. I have bought quite few watches on Amazon or EBay at great prices.

I bought a new one late 2017, mixed metal, and have been very happy. An Australian brand so prob not available to you April. I did look for perhaps at least a year then got it on a Black Friday sale. I still do wear my older 1995 Pulsar many days as well. I am not sporty and don't want a watch telling me off!

Ted Baker also has some super cute choices in the floral department.
I am also seeing a lot of rose gold with gray leather or chain band, which is a very pretty look.

I had not had a watch since the 50's. None I had would run very long so just gave up on watches.

As Bella said the Ted Baker florals are very cute, so I bought one during the NAS sale, (2018) because I liked the rose gold with a red floral leather band.

I love it and consider it my signature item. Also it stills works fine.

I really like my Shinola. Bonus they're made in Detroit, with Swiss technique

ETA to add I have a white Movado too. I got both at the Rack for significantly cheaper.

Thank you all for these ideas!

I prefer silver on me to gold or rose gold. I much prefer wearing a watch to looking at my phone. Like Lisa P, I love a simple face with few extras.

With these suggestions in mind, off to see what I can unearth.

I recently bought this hybrid smartwatch - looks like a normal watch but does a few smart things like count steps and sleep. I love it. Although it is a little bigger than I usually like it still fits nicely. The find is rose gold but I found it in gold. There is a silver version too but the face of that is black and I wanted a white face. Not sure there is an "in-style" and "out of style" in watches though?

I took a break from watches for many years, but started wearing one again this past fall for teaching outdoor classes. Nice for indoor school too, where the clocks are ALWAYS out of sync from one room to another! I have the plain-jane version of Robin's Skagen smartwatch. Unlike the Find below, mine is stainless with black rather than white. I contemplated a similar version, black and rose gold, but worried I'd get tired of the rose gold and that it wouldn't match any of my tiny jewelry collection. I have no idea what's trending for watches; I just wanted something that's simple, goes with everything, will last a long time, etc. I do like the floral watches I've seen, and if I get another watch it will be a Swatch with a cute pattern.

This is a great reminder that I need a new watch! I have a Skagen that I love, but the gold is just too worn off the band to wear. I feel like the Boyfriend watches aren't quite as much the thing anymore, but if it's your personal style, it still works, if that makes sense. I think with watches, unless you want a whole wardrobe of them, you have to choose something that feels like it's really part of YOU.

High five to La Pedestrienne! My new watch, bought in December 2018, looks pretty much like the one shown by La P., but, like hers (as told in her comment) has a BLACK face. Mine is from Daniel Wellington.

I am very pleased with this choice. My watch looks simple, elegant, current, timeless, goes with anything I wear, harmonizes with my colouring and proportions, and adds a touch of style to any outfit.
