What is your "uniform"?

I'm new here and this is a new concept to me. I definitely tend to stick around a particular formula with dressing. So I'm curious what uniforms work for other people!

I have to dress business casual for work, no denim or leggings. So I often like to wear a combo of pencil skirt + pretty top + necklace or scarf. Or dressy trousers + top + necklace or scarf.
When not working I live in mostly jeans so it's jeans + top + necklace/scarf... OR.. .I also like the combo of leggings with loose top, pendant necklace, and oversized cardi with heels (spring/summer) or boots (autumn/winter).

I very rarely do dresses, almost always in separates.

Pencil skirt, top, blazer or cardi, pumps. I wear this combo to work almost every day and it never gets old!

Casual lifestyle, so jeans, denim-cut jacket in a color or fabric interest, tee or tank. Sometimes black jeans & tee, just got some white jeans to do same with a white tee. I'm pretty new and I'm finding that shoes/belt/scarf/jewelry make a lot of variety for my limited (by choice) wardrobe.

Dresses without a doubt. I have 3 faux wrap dresses (2 more in the post) they're so easy to throw on with a few changes for summer or winter x

For work, the same as MaryK. For weekends - jeans, top, blazer or jacket, and boots in cooler weather and shorts, top, sandals in the summer. That's not to say that I don't try the occasional trouser, skinny pant or dress outfit, but when I'm looking for a get ready quick option it's great to have a fall back formula.

I've got three:

1. Jeans, t-shirt and topper (blazer or cardigan)

2. Jeans and button-front shirt

3. Skirt, fitted t-shirt/sleeveless top an cardi if necessary

This sounds like very few options, but I wear just about any cut of jeans, many skirt shapes (pencil, a-line, full, mini), and all kinds of footwear. I feel like I have lots of variety, but within certain parameters, you know?

This is easy: slim, straight-leg pants/jeans, sweater or T-shirt, cropped jackets, and boots/oxfords/wedged sandals. Cotton and linen in the summer, cashmere and leather in the fall/winter, and silk or fine wool for dressed-up events. If the weather requires, I'll add a trench/duffle/parka-style coat as the outer layer. Always worn with a sleek leather shoulder bag, usually cross-body style so my hands are free.

Seriously, I don't know why I bother to buy anything else. This is what I wear 95% of the time if I'm not in lounge wear or gear.

Blazer + Blouse + Flare/A-line Skirt + Pumps is pretty much my go-to uniform these days!

Watch + Earrings are my go-to accessories because I can't wear necklaces at work. I usually like a skinny belt too. The stretch belts are handy for long shifts

PS: also works for "casual" outfits too = t-shirts and flats, usually, though! (Pics 9 and 10)

I do feel i have a lot of variety, but when you get down to it, I guess they are derived from some uniform formulae!

It all comes down to a bottom and a top, with or without a blazer...or a dress, doesn't it? My, we are an original bunch!!

It becomes so abstract that it's essentially meaningless.

Because we're all pretty much working from the same basic framework, when I think of "uniform" I often think instead of my favourite individual pieces -- the ones I reach for again and again within a given season. But that changes with each season and sadly I can't always predict in advance which pieces I will truly love.

It's winter where I am and my winter uniform is definitely slim leg pants or leggings worn with oversized tops or tunic and ankle booties.

Lately, my everyday uniform has consisted of black and white, with cuffed sandals:

1) White cuffed shorts or white skinnies with a black top
2) A straight black skirt (mini or pencil) with a white top
3) Ankle cuff sandals (wedge or stiletto)
4) Oversize sunglasses a la Breakfast at Tiffany's
5) Small summery clutch or handbag in neutral colors

Jewelry is a pair of pearl or diamond studs, silver chain-link bracelets, or something flamenco-inspired (earrings or a soft jersey bolero over a cami top). Sometimes I add a black leather belt, usually corset-shaped in very soft leather that really cinches. And sometimes I swap out the sandals for ballet flats. A few times, I find some color has made its way into my outfit (royal or ballet pink lately), but mostly, I am loving my black and white/ivory/cream palette. There are two trends that I am thrilled to see have finally reached 'mainstream': fetish (ankle wraps, chain-link jewelry, leather trims) and flamenco (earrings and boleros).

I have never been so happy with the simplicity of getting dressed as I have been this past month!

My work or dress-up/uniform is a fitted dress or fitted skirt-and-top in a neutral shade, closed-toe stilettos, pearls, and a clutch or small bag.

ETA: Reading my eariler reply, it sounds as if I'm saying it's a meaningless question, which I'm not -- so I am sorry. I think maybe I was trying to express what LaBelleDM said much more eloquently with her specifics. We all wear a uniform of some kind, but what makes it OUR uniform? In her case, it's the colour palette plus the accessories she chooses. I would say the same is true for Deborah (whose outfits are very, very different, even though her colour palette is similar!)

I'm not sure in my own case what makes it "my" uniform -- particularly when it comes to summer looks, which are much tougher for me. Still working on that.

For work in A/W: Cardigan + long-sleeved top or short sleeved blouse + A-line/fish tail skirt + heels with a buckle

For work in S/S: Cardigan (depending on weather) + short sleeved T + A-line skirt + wedge sandals

For play in AW: Pussybow blouse + tweed skirt + heels with a buckle

For play in summer: Fit and flare dress + wedge sandals.

Gosh, my uniforms are incredibly samey! I guess I know which silhouettes suit me and work for me.

I think what makes a uniform work, is to be able to choose it without too much agonizing or changing multiple times - and then finding by the end of the day, you felt great wearing your choice - that you felt attractive, energized, and that you were comfortable in the current season and climate.

That's been a very new feeling and concept for me - that you can have a theme with variations that works over and over for you. It is something that never occurred to me until I found these forums - so I owe all of you a big thanks!

The tricky part this summer has been the contrast between the humid, muggy outdoors of the Deep South and the arctic air-conditioning inside most buildings here.

My uniform relies on a silhouette and color combo.

Skinny bottoms + blousy/loose tunic or fitted woven shirt + jacket/sweater or necklace as a third piece.

Interesting shoes.

like you,i work in a business casual office, with no jeans allowed. i rarely wear dress or skirts. my basic uniform (which i am working to freshen up) is straight leg pant, knit top, with either a blazer or sweater, and 2-3 inch heels. during the summer, i wear flats more often, and during the winter, the heels are often booties or boots,
i really didn't realize that i had a uniform until one of my friends just casualy mentioned it one day.
but, as i said, i am working to update the pieces and silhouettes to keep the uniform to date.

So fun to read about your uniforms, ladies!

My uniform changes every season. Right now for Summer it's one of the following:

BF jeans (white or blue) + tucked b/down shirt or silk blouse (popped and scrunched) + belt + pointy pumps + clutch
Change the BF jeans to white straight legs + same formula
Change the BF to wool trousers + same formula
Full Skirt + banded pullover + pointy pumps + clutch

Jackets = Bomber, Waxed Denim, Blazer, Moto

No jewelry or scarves. Watch, wedding ring, specs and that's it.

Voila

Am trying to wear my pencil skirts more too, but the weather needs to co-operate. I do not want to wear hose in June.

At the moment, my formula = skinnies + drapey silky button down + heels + topper (drapey sweater or tailored jacket).

I also always wear a coat over everything too.

Of course, today, I'm not in my formula ;>
