What is your tolerance level to wrinkles

I am curious to know what do you think about wrinkled clothing? I have to admit that I have a problem with it. I don't like ironing. I don't like wearing synthetic materials that are easy care, like polyester. But I can't stand the wrinkles. When I enter the shop that doesn't have nicely pressed clothes, I leave immediately. It just looses the appeal. And that is the reason why I am a sweater girl. Sweaters in my opinion show wrinkles the least. (and are the warmest option - I run cold). I have zero blouses and the few shirts that I have I wear very rearly. And t-shirts are too casual for my current lifestyle.
So over to you. What is your tolerance level to wrinkles? And what is your favorite type of top?

I am in agreement. If it should look crisp, then it must look crisp and be ironed. I tend to be a messy-marvin, though and it's hard for me to remain crisp and pressed. Also, I am a perfectionist who is terrible at ironing--so it takes me forever and I'm never 100% pleased with the result. I, too, have a lot of knits. But, I also just bought a linen shirt with the aim of only "soft-pressing" it so it still has a soft look and texture-y wrinkles without looking crumpled. For casual outfits, I think I am going to be pleased with this strategy.

I have a high tolerance for wrinkles as long as the wrinkles are on fabrics like linen. I never iron my clothes. My cotton T shirts have wrinkles but I would not notice them unless I looked for them.
I am a bit RATE so it works for me. RATE is rough around the edges. I never know if everyone knows what that means.

I hate ironing too - as it's a performance to get out the ironing board and wrestle it into place, fill the iron with water, find a place to plug in the iron, wait for it to heat up, blah blah blah. It's why I don't wear nor own cotton shirts. T-shirts : I can deal with the odd wrinkle as I go for linen-y or vintage-y looks. Blouses - usually have to iron them for their first wear, then they seem fine . If a store doesn't steam out their merchandise before displaying it - it turns me right off. That, and plastic Kmart-ish hangers.

I hate ironing, but have a zero tolerance for wrinkling. If I get my laundry out of the dryer right when the cycle finishes, though, I can usually avoid having to iron. If I do have to iron, it's just a touchup on low heat. I do favor polyester or poly/cotton blend tops that need little or no ironing.

don't iron (do occasionally steam). also a sweater girl for the same reasons. but I'm also a tee shirt/knit top girl...I just make sure that I get to the dryer the minute its done and fold....also have a high affinity for wool because it tends to wrinkle less, and generally keeps its shape

Hmm. I don't do crisp, but I don't do crumpled either (with the exception of my hair, lol). I do really really hate being with someone, tho, who can't go here, can't sit there because they'll mess up their clothes. No point going out then.

I don't like to wear wrinkled clothes but don't like to iron either. I usually wear knits or poly blends that don't wrinkle. I will occasionally iron but I try other de-wrinkling methods first (steaming in the bathroom while I shower, throw in the dryer with damp washrag, etc).

For wrinkled things that I don't want to iron, I'll spray them with a fine mist of water and kind of shake out the wrinkles and pull on the seams, etc. For all but formal events, this works pretty well. My formal events are limited these days. My dry environment means they dry quickly, too.

Fellow non-ironer here. My dryer has a "wrinkle release steam" phase that works fairly well... sometimes. I have a bunch of poly-blend tops though that would benefit from a good pressing, so I just ordered myself a travel steamer from amazon. Steaming seems more fun than ironing so we shall see!

For me, it depends. If I'm wanting to look put together, then wrinkles make me absolutely insane and I cannot stand them. If I'm having a dystopian day where I want to look like a post-apocalyptic warrior, then wrinkles are a perfect fit.

Overall, though, I iron a lot.

I have a high tolerance for wrinkles from wear, but not from washing, especially in cotton. There's a big difference in texture between items that have been ironed and those that have been shaken out, too. (It may be from being a seamstress that I see the difference.) Sometimes hems have flipped up or waistbands folded, and need to be ironed out. And objectively, I don't mind ironing. I just turn on a TV show and it goes quickly. I'm pretty good at it.

That said, I still have to find time to do it, and usually it's not a priority. My look is neither crisp nor drapey, so there aren't too many items that need ironing any more. Mostly some of my cooler a-line skirts and a few dresses. I am definitely feeling the urge for some seersucker this year.

I loathe ironing, so it's a good thing I have a pretty high tolerance for wrinkling. However, I don't wear blouses because of fit issues--broad shoulders, small bust--and do wear lots of sweaters and knits, which don't wrinkle. I do steam garments when absolutely necessary. I'm happy to let summer linens and cottons wrinkle away.

I have quite a low tolerance to wrinkles. Most of my fabrics tend to be blended.

Much depends on where I'm going. I like creased with creased, that is, a linen or wrinkled shirt with a linen or wrinkled cotton bottom. If one part is smooth then the whole outfit needs to be smooth for me. I enjoy ironing and listen to a book on tape. I set a timer and just do 15 minutes at a time. Trying to do a whole basket of clothes can be a turn off. For this reason, I try to do a medium load each day rather than several loads one day a week. It makes it more likely that the wash will be folded, ironed if needed, and put away.

Especially because my lifestyle is casual but in proximity to city life I rely on the neatness of the components to keep me from looking too "out of it" for lack of a better way to put it.
My clothes don't have to look brand new but they have to look clean, with no threads hanging off, undamaged, and no wrinkles. I don't love ironing but when I buy things that will need it I choose items that are constructed well enough to make it easy.

I like crisp shirts, but I hate ironing (and in fact my ironing board got mildewed or something, so I don't have a good way to iron at the moment). I do use a steamer. It's not ideal for cotton shirts but for all other uses it's as good as ironing, in my opinion.

My steaming iron keeps my clothes in good shape with less work than ironing.

I wore a wrinkled jumpsuit to dinner to me it was a fail. I just did not feel like ironing. I think my tolerance for myself is very low. On other hand it's not a big problem .

My tolerance for wrinkles has in the past been really, really low. I couldn't be seen in public in a wrinkly garment.

That was the past. Something happened this Spring. I am wearing a lot more linen and I must have made peace with wrinkles because I don't notice them all that much. I wonder if better grades of linen wrinkle less? That seems to be the case, but I can't be certain it is not my imagination.

I don't mind wrinkles in clothes that looks better, in my opinion, wrinkled - linen woven fabrics, but I still iron it after wash. Once it get's wrinkled from wear, I'm fine with it. I iron almost all my clothes. I do it once a week. I don't hate it nor love it, it is what it is. I iron all my tops and sweaters, all pants but jeans. I iron my husband's shirts and polo shirts. I'm happy my husband wears jeans to work now, I used to really hate ironing pants with creases.
I also iron pillows cases, I got lazy and don't do the whole bedding sets anymore

I don't like wrinkles and do iron. I'm not keen on ironing, but I do it. I try to buy cotton fabrics because my skin is sensitive and cotton wrinkles. Perma press cotton is treated and that can be a irritant for me.

I disklike ironing and ( am so bad at it )S o much that I have had to learn to either buy no wrinkle clothing or be a little rumpled. I do use downy wrinkle releaser and I have a steamer I will occasionally break out.

Apart from linen tops - NO TOLERANCE because I want to look very polished. I will often re-press something in the morning or evening to wear again, and I iron when I travel (I don't camp).

Very low tolerance for wrinkles and low patience for ironing - if the fabric looks like it will wrinkle, I usually move on!

On my face or my clothes ? Actually despite being naturally RATE, I do not like wrinkles except where they are supposed to be (like linen). I often just skip tops that need to be ironed because I also don't like ironing - or, specifically, like Lisa I don't like setting up the iron. Certain synthetic blends are the most worn in my closet for that reason. That said, I probably have a higher tolerance than many more polished individuals, including a certain ex-boyfriend that would rather be an hour late for work than go out without ironing his shirt. I have no tolerance for lateness at all.

Haha, when I clicked on this thread, I'd assumed you were talking about facial wrinkles! (In which case, my tolerance is moderate).

Clothing wrinkles? Pretty high, actually. I don't mind it if I look a bit disheveled. It's going to happen anyway -- why fight it? And I quite like fabrics that wrinkle hectically, like linen. I have to say, though, that I don't generally think about wrinkles because it's generally not a problem. I wear the sort of clothes that don't seem to develop creases easily. I wear a lot of denim and canvas pants, and coats and jackets that don't wrinkle, as well as sweaters and tee shirts. Sometimes silk shirts. Nothing seems to get creased, except the linen tops, which is part and parcel of the fabric and therefore looks intentional.

I've sometimes wondered if a person's preference for polish is related to what they do for a living?

The reason I ask is that I tried on a beautiful blouse yesterday. It had perfect fit, nice drape and was not transparent even though it was white. It seemed like very useful and versatile item that will go with many things. But it was 100% viscose and looked like it will crease like crazy. I can only imagine how it will look like at the end of long day. What is the best material for blouses in your opinion?
