What is this style of shirt called?

I bought two casual t-shirts a few years ago and they were great for my pear body type. They have pleating above the breasts. I know when pleating is below the breasts it's called a babydoll top but I have no idea if this style even has a name. I've seen tops this season with pleating at the neckline but they just don't camouflage my problem area as much and most babydoll tops make me look pregnant. This style top was perfect for my "mom on the go" outfits.

lemon-scented- that is called a yoke front top. I hope that helps. The yoke line (the seam) can be in different places, so you will still have to narrow down your search finding, but I hope that helps!

I think some call it a trapeze, as well, although not all trapeze tops have the pleating - so it can be confusing. http://www.overstock.com/Cloth.....oduct.html

Trapeze just means that it has an A-line shape. Some yoke front tops have pleating, some don't- it just means there is a seam with a separate piece sewn on.

I haven't seen this style in stores much this season... but I do have one that I bought last year at BR.

I'd rather purchase them already made but I bought the pattern. If I can find some cute jersey fabric or cotton, my mom will make a couple for me.

I would call it a gathered yoke...or something like that.

Yes, yoke is the operative word, I believe. I would call it a "yoke front" top, as I suspect that the back is constructed out of one piece of fabric, or two pieces seamed together with an opening at the top, and the back will be flat. (There are tops where the yoke continues all the way around the garmet; these are often more rounded but narrower and they will conform to the shape of the body.)

The only trick with the style you like is the pinning at the yoke line. You will need to pin the gathers every 1 inch or so...even closer if you can stand it...because the
gathers need to be very evenly spaced in order to make them lie as flat as possible
over the bustline once you've stitched the gathered piece to the yoke.
