What is the right length for maxi-skirts?

Is there a PPL equivalent? I've thrifted a couple and am not sure if they qualify, since they would be a little shorter than PPL with shoes on. Visuals would help if anyone has one. Thanks! And I'll post photos of mine too.

ETA: Angie did a blog post on maxi skirts and most of them looked like they nearly skimmed the floor. Not sure how practical that is though.

AG- hmm, I'm thinking with a maxi dress you might want to keep between your ankle and the ground. It probably depends partly on how full the skirt is. The fuller the skirt, the longer you would want it.

I think I like seeing the shoes for added visual interest as opposed to just a long expanse of skirt fabric from head to toe.

QM, look at you, doing my research for me! THANK YOU! Your instinct was obviously spot-on. And is perfect for the skirts I've bought... one is olive green and almost column-like, the other is one of those crinkly silk ones.

To me if it's showing the ankle it feels a little too 90s, especially if you pair a boot I'd try for just below the ankle; to the ground is trickier to do, but if the dress doesn't have too much volume it can look good.

I do, Anna - in both black and brown! I wish I could just take a day off at home during the week to try outfits on and take photos in peace. When my son and husband are around, it is just not possible...

Well, my preference is skimming the top of the foot so the heel height determines the skirt hem, just as it does for PPL.

Seeing a pair of itty bitty feet sticking out from large swath of fabric looks weird to me. The closer to the ground the better.

Although I am still in the "to the knee" camp.

This is a hard question to answer Una - because whenever I try them on, I feel like a lampshade without a lamp and so I avoid them at all costs!
