What is the point? - an online shopping gripe

Seriously what is the point of companies posting a white top, on a white model, against a white background

Is this insane or am I just grumpy?
Do you have any issues with how clothes are photographed for online sites?

I find the Victoria's Secret website to be completely useless when it comes to clothes shopping. The styling of ordinary tops is so over "sexified" that I can't tell what the shirts actually look like sometimes. They unbutton, tie up, leave open to bare a bikini top or what-have-you. Then there are the model poses. Their contorted "I'm so sexy" poses obfuscate the items, too.

Agreed. I also hate when they show clothes on models striking awkward poses, or twisting in odd ways with their hands on their hips or arms crossed in front of their chest, because I reckon they're trying to hide unfortunate characteristics of the clothes.

I also don't like sites where you can't sort by size. There is no point me falling in love with something if it isn't available in my size.

I agree, annoying but pretty funny. I've had more than once where the color looked good on the model, so I ordered it. Then the top was an AWFUL color for me.

I think it reflects trends in contemporary photography - over saturating EVERYTHING, bleaching the colour right out and filling in as much light as possible. I agree, it is in no way an accurate indication of the actual look of a fabric or item. So often they don't look good in normal, "natural" light.
